B-Team Ties for 2nd

B-Team proud to show 2nd place finish.

The Lady Wildcats' B-team started their 2010 season 0-3. Their first win came against Lewis County in Hohenwald on August 24. The Lady Wildcats had a very impressive serving performance in the match, serving 48 times with only 8 errors, winning in 2 sets 25-12 and 25-9. Through the first half of their season, the Lady Wildcats posted a 2-4 record. Of their first six matches, five of those were played on the road as the Lady Wildcats waited on their home court to be repaired from the flooding in May. The Lady Wildcats hosted William James at Waverly Central High School on August 30 for their first 'home' match and made this their second win of the season.

The second half of the season for the Lady Wildcats' B-team proved to be an amazing turn-around and they showed what it meant to have home court advantage. Only one of their last six matches was played on the road and took place in Centerville against Hickman County.The Lady Wildcats won the match 2-1, with scores of 25-13, 12-25, and 15-9. Then came the home stretch with the last five matches of the season played at Robert Reid Gymnasium on their newly repaired floor. The Lady Wildcats suffered their first official 'home' match loss of the 2010 season against the Fairview Lady Falcons, 10-25 and 25-27. But then went on a 4-0 run to finish the season, taking wins from Hickman County (2-0), East Hickman (2-0), Lewis County (2-0), and Charlotte (2-1). The Lady Wildcats' B-team ended the season with a 6-4 conference record (7-5 overall) and put them tied for 2nd place with William James. With the first winning record since 2007, prospects look promising for the volleyball program at Waverly Jr. High. B-team members for the 2010 season were #10 Molly Fortner, #6 Nicole Henry, #17 Abbie Landiss, #22 Lexi McGranahan, #9 Emma Rushton, #2 Alex Varner, #14 Lofton Etheridge, #5 Abby Varner, #28 Emily Davis, #7 Winnie Bradley, #23 Abby Mayberry, and #8 Kyra Lewis.
