Mounties "A" TEAM Shows up!

Posted April 15, 2012

The Vancouver Mounties followed up Saturdays home opener collapse by winning their next 3 games to finish the weekend with a 3 - 1 record.  The Mounties came out with a purpose on Sunday against a tired travelling Cowichan Team.

In game 1 the Mustangs struck first taking a 1 - 0 lead in the top of the 1st inning.  That was it for the Mustangs as the Mounties scored 49 unanswered runs to sweep both games by 19 to 1 and 30 to 0 scores.  Manager Mundle did a more than adequate job in the 3rd base box waving in 70 runs over the two days.  Coach Pawlick is feeling the pressure and will have some big shoes to replace.

The Mounties 39 hits on Sunday was nearly as many hits in one day as the Beatles had in their career.   The bats combined for 25 singles, 9 doubles, 3 triples and 2 homeruns.  Lichel Hirakawa-Kao hit the first cycle in Mountie history going 5 for 6 in the second game with a homerun, 2 triples, a double, and a single, 6 RBI's and also plated 5 times.

The Mounties will be travelling to Washington next weekend to play in the USSSA Invite Tournament.
