Mounties Gear Up For Test Against Eagles!
The Vancouver Mounties are getting ready for their first games of the season when they travel over to the Island to play the Victoria Eagles Sr. baseball team.  The Eagles who changed their name from the Vipers this year, are one of the perennial powerhouses of the Bantam AAA League.

The Eagles are a veteran group with 12 returning players, and are led by Vinnie Martin who was a pickup for last years 2009 Western Canadian Championship Gold Winning Team.  Along with great players the Eagles are skippered by coach Ron Arcuri.  Arcuri a savvy veteran, has coached many top notch Victoria teams including the 2006 Victoria Capitals Midget Provincial Champions.

The Vipers team has sported a 58 - 14 record in league play the last two years and the Mounties know that they will have to be at their very best to compete with the Eagles on Sunday.  The Mounties team is looking forward to the challenge as they fully understand that in order to get better they will have to learn how to compete with the best.

Last year the Mounties and Vipers split their pre-season series, with the Mounties nearly getting run out of town early, when Victoria exploded for 6 runs in the 2nd and 4th innings, and ran away with the first game by a 12 - 3 score.  The Mounties were able to right the ship and get a split winning the 2nd game by a 6 - 3 score.

Mounties Will Host Calgary Cubs!
The Vancouver Mounties have booked two exibition games on April 23rd and 25th against the touring Calgary Cubs Baseball Club.  The last time the Mounties played a team from Alberta was when they defeated the St. Albert Cardinals 21 - 2 in the 2008 Western Canadian Championships in Estevan Saskatchewan.

CATCHERS PRACTICE MONDAY!
Gaudette, Smythe, and Williams are required to attend the catchers practice on Monday March 14th at Gordon Park.

Mounties Open Against Spurs!
The Vancouver Mounties open their 2010 campaign with a doubleheader against the Cloverdale Spurs on April 10th 2010 in Cloverdale.  The Mounties will be in for a tough battle as the Spurs have been picked by some to be one of the dominant teams of the Bantam AAA League.

Mounties Finalize Roster!
It is something that coaches look forward to but also something that they dread.  Finalizing the roster and getting the team picked is exciting.  However releasing players is a hard thing to do and something that coaches never get used to.  With over 50 player vying for only 12 spots, many tough decisions had to be made.

The Mounties have always held open tryouts and have a firm belief that everyone should have an opportunity to try out for the team.  This was a wide open process.  Contrary to much speculation that this team was pre-picked  before tryouts, we are confident that this process proved those rumours wrong.  The best 12 players emerged and were picked from these tryouts.

The Vancouver Mounties would like to thank all of the players that came out to tryouts.  There were a lot of talented players who were released that were definitely AAA calibre.  However the Mounties believe that playing time is very important for all players and the only way they can guarantee this is to keep the roster size to 12

The Mounties have a strong tradition and we are sure that these boys will do their best to work hard and represent the Vancouver Mounties in a positive way.

The Vancouver Mounties coaching staff is proud to announce the 2010 Vancouver Mounties!
