Notes:
For the 1st 7 inns the Bluejays had flipped the switch and played a solid ball game leading 5-2. Then the rain came and after a hr delay.....not good. 1st inn Plato shoots out of the gate fast with a sac fly by Smothers and a rbi single by Boomer, Bluejays lead 2-0. 3rd inn, Lang doubles in Smothers 3-0 4th inn Tony leds off with a double, Johnson hits a sac fly to increase the lead to 4-0, Tony was cruising on the mound at this point. SM 6th inn, A lead off walk then a couple hits and Sm cuts the lead in half 4-2. Top 7th, Bluejays come right back with a run. A wild play, Johnson on 1st, hit n run with Dean, grounder to 3rd, ZSm over throws 1st, Dean gonna try for 2nd, his knee goes out, Sm throws home to get Johnson, he is safe, ball gets away, Dean is still down between 1st and 2nd trying to crawl to 2nd, but Sm fires the ball and just gets Dean..WOW. 5-2 Plato. Plato had 2nd, 3rd in top 8th but get none, SM would make us pay for that. SM Bottom 8th,they put a bunch of hits together and add 2, now 5-4 plato. 9th, Lang had a big 2 out double to score a limping dean from 2nd. 6-4 Bottom 9th, led off single, then a taylor made double play ball, field conditions were a bit wet, Smothers bobled, and recovered to get an out at 1st. walk, HBP, and a base clearing double gave the Saints yet another walk off win vs the Bluejays.. A tough lose for Plato.Once again we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.... Tony was solid again on the mound vs a great hitting line up, going the distance. Lang had 3 hits to lead the offense, with 2 rbi. The Bluejays are the walking wounded right now, but will have to suck it up and keep there season alive, Thursday night vs delano. |
