July 1st Game Summary:

Klippers score was doubled  by Eston

With a depleted roster, the Klippers went to the  Eston to face the Eston Ramblers. With only 8 regulars player the Klippers had to bring in former batboy, import Tyler Hazelwanter. Ron Cannon got the start on the mound going five innings. Ron commented " too bad Scotty wasn't here to see how to keep them in the park". Tyler came into pitch the final inning to strike out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. He struck out half as many batters as Cannon did in his 5 innings, compared to Tyler's one. Rumors has it that, there was some grumbling that the loss was a coaching error, "I think coach started the wrong pitcher".

All in all it was a pretty good showing for the Klippers. Next action for the Klippers will be Tuesday July 6 against the Brock Braves game time 7:30. Tuesday game  will be Rojo Johnson night, first 100 people will get a free autographed picture of Rojo.

June 9th Game Summary:

Klippers lose 10-8 in 2nd controversial game!

Tim Lyons from the Brock Beavers threw 5 no-hit innings against his former teammates leading the Brock Beavers to a 10-8 win.  Both teams and the umpire crew decided that Lyons is really not that good and that it was the Klippers bats causing the problems.

Crow Baxter saved the team $9.37 by purchasing these bats on a great deal, only no one has heard of the professionals using Saskatchewan Balsa Wood, Prarie Carragana, or ToothPick Timber brands.

Terry Motz started for the Klippers on his own bobblehead night and went 2 shutout innings before losing his head.  Ron Cannon followed, but claimed to coach Pritchard that his fastball, curve, and slider were not working, asking what he should do?  Pritchard offered him some wise advice suggesting perhaps try throwing a strike.  Derek (GasCan) Semple followed and allowed 3 in the top of the ninth - sealing Brock's victory.  Following Lyons on the mound for Brock were 'No Arc' Perry Bews, Troy McIver, and Matt Spiers - all with little success as the Klippers made a valiant comeback.

The return match will be held in Brock, this Sunday at 3:00 pm, in thier newly-built dome ballpark.

Comments from around the ball diamond on June 9:

Coach Pritchard said we were going to play until Semple got a hit - the team was prepared to play 20-25 innings -but Derek came through with a hit in the ninth.

Scott Garrett was missing from the lineup as he could not find his uniform.

What would Brostie do if Semple played in front of him?

Who was in the Perry Bews uniform last night as he stole 2nd base?

Mike from Canmore was wondering why Brock was called the Beavers on the post game radio show?

June 4th Home Opener Summary:

Raiders beat Klippers 10-3 in controversial game

Raiders Randy Copeland pitched 4 shutout innings against Klippers even though both umpires and Klippers felt he was using an illegal substance on the ball - but was not caught.  Klipper coach Ken Pritchard said we definately got Gaylord Perried tonight.

Errors were the demise of the Klippers in the 3rd innning, as the Raiders scored 7 runs and never looked back.  Rookie Klipper infielder Kevin Riechert said the ball was so greasy in the 3rd you couldn't catch it, or throw it.  Klipper catcher Crow Baxter said Copeland smelt of chicken fat everytime he came up to bat.

Pitching for the Klippers were Scott Garrett followed by Brian Tittemore.  Perry Bews pitched for the Klippers in a father and son duel.  Dorian Bews pitched the last 3 innings for the Raiders, and was torched for 3 runs, while father Perry threw 3 shutout innings for the Klippers.  Coach Ken Pritchard was also disappointed with the Raiders for throwing thier ace as it was the Klippers first game of the year, and also for the Raiders bringing in the cold weather - which gives them a distict advantage.

It was also bring your horse to the ballpark promotion, which manager Ken Barrows says is an annual promotion the team runs the first weekend in June.  Barrows said there were not many fans there, but there must have been 30 horses and trailers parked around the ballpark.

The Klippers now play The Brock Beavers at home Tuesday, June 9 at 7:30.  It is Terry Motz bobblehead night, so fans should arrive early.  Motz, longtime superstar of the club, will be available for autographs before, during, and after the game!
