BC Minor is pleased to announce that Baseball BC has developed a new High Performance event aimed directly at Bantam aged players.

The new HP event is a NorthWest Selects tournament that will be held in the Seattle-Tacoma area from September 16-18. The tournament will feature U14(grade 8) and U15 (grade 9) divisions. Select teams will be created out of BC, Washington State, Seattle Metro, Oregon State, Portland Metro, and Idaho. The organizers are currently work to secure pro parks for this tournament. This should be a great opportunity for the top players in these age categories in BC.

Baseball BC will announce Provincial All-Star teams at the grade 8 and 9 levels. Any player, in any Baseball BC affiliate program (Little League/BC Minor/PBL) will be eligible to try out for these teams. The grade 8 team will be comprised of mostly Bantam AAA players, while the grade 9 team will be comprised of a mix of Junior Premier and Bantam AAA players.

The tryout process for interior players will be as follows:

1. Attend the tryout at noon on June 28th at Elks Stadium.  All players need to register and pay $20 through the Baseball BC website, http://www.baseball.bc.ca/page.php?pg=29.  After being evaluated the best players will advance to Step 2 of the tryout.

2. Players advancing from Step 1 will attend a three day selection camp from July 19th to 22nd at Whalley Stadium in Surrey.

3. After this camp is completed, twenty players, plus alternates, will be announced that will form the U14 and U15 Team BC teams that will complete in the NorthWest Futures Tournament, September 16th through 18th.   Teams will also be selected to attend the Pacific Northwest Championship in Centralia, Washington on August 11th through the 13th.

The various Hi-Performance open identification camps are held to allow all of the players that are interested, to be evaluated using the criteria that are used by college recruiters and Major League Baseball in evaluating the talent of players.   These camps are staffed by Baseball BC staff and senior coaching staff that work with MLB teams.
