Cinco Ranch was well represented on both the All-District and Academic All-District teams in the 2012-2013 season. For the first time in school history, every member of the Cougars received 1st, 2nd, or Honorable Mention All-District. In addition, all nine members of the Lady Cougars received Academic All-District. Cinco finished the year with a 20-15 record, a tenth straight trip to the state playoffs and an 10th straight season of finishing either 1st or 2nd in district play.

| Posted Feb 15/13 - Cougars fall to Cy Creek in playoffs, 43-39 |
KATY, TX---Cinco Ranch fell in the area round of the playoffs on Friday night in a nip and tuck battle against Cy Creek. Jaylon McClure led Cinco with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Emily Richard finished with 10 points on 4-5 shooting. Cy Creek led 13-11 after one quarter and 22-21 at halftime. McClure scored eight of her 12 points in the first half to pace the Cougars. The 3rd quarter was back and forth and Cy Creek led 29-27 after three quarters.
Sydney Thomas dished out six assists and Charissa Enget hauled in seven rebounds for Cinco.

Battle of Cougars
Cinco and Cy Creek will meet for the 2nd time ever in the postseason. Cinco defeated Cy Creek 54-40 in the 2006-2007 playoffs in the bidistrict round. Cy Creek is the number four seed out of 17-5A, which is one of the more rugged districts in the Houston area. Cy Creek defeated Aldine Nimitz on Monday night, 57-44.

| Posted Feb 12/13 - Thomas' 24 points lift Cougars to Area Round, 61-42 |
KATY, TX---Sydney Thomas hit for 24 points on nine of fifteen shooting to lead Cinco to a 61-42 bidistrict playoff victory over Houston Madison on Tuesday night at CRHS. Thomas scored 17 points in the second half as the Cougars erupted for 41 points after the break to pull away from the Marlins, despite a brilliant shooting display by Sha'de Adedapo, who hit eight three-pointers and scored 30 points for Madison.
Cinco led 11-9 after one period, as all five Cougar starters scored buckets. Cinco clamped down on defense in the second quarter, limiting Madison to just three points in the quarter and extended their lead to 20-12 at half.
Both teams hit another gear on offense in teh second half, combining for 71 points. Adedapo hit for 17 points in the final quarter, but the Cougars continued to build on their lead.
Cinco shot 42% for the night, and hit 15-19 from the free throw line. Charissa Enget hit double figures with 11 points (5-5 FT), and Jaylon McClure added nine tallies. Cayla Vanderweide and Riley Humphrey led the way with three asssits and Angie Moore pulled down six rebounds and three steals.
The win vaults the Cougars into the second round of the state playoffs for the 10th straight year.
The Cougars will face Cypress Creek in the Area Round, with the particulars to be decided on Wednesday morning. Check back Wednesday afternoon for all the info for the Area Round game.

| Posted Feb 8/13 - Cinco set to take on Madison to kick off playoffs |
Cinco Ranch will take on Houston Madison on Tuesday night at Cinco Ranch HS at 7:00pm. The Cougars (19-14) are the 19-5A second seed, while the Marlins (11-17) enter as the number 3 seed out of 20-5A.
This will mark the first time that Cinco will have a home game in the Class 5A State Playoffs. With a win, Cinco would take on the winner of the Cypress Creek-Aldine Nimitz game, which will be played on Monday night at the Campbell Center in Aldine at 7:00pm.
This will mark the third all-time meeting between Cinco and Madison in the playoffs. The series is tied, 1-1.
Check back throughout the weekend for updates to the playoff pairings from around the state of Texas. The 'PLAYOFFS' tab on the left will be updated throughout the playoffs.

| Posted Feb 5/13 - Cougars close out regular season with win over Falcons |
HOUSTON, TX---Corin Evans scored 16 points and added five rebounds as Cinco Ranch closed out the regular season with a 40-36 non-district win over Clear Lake on Tuesday night at Bill Krueger Field House. Cinco jumped out to a 25-16 lead at halftime and held off a Falcon rally in the 4th quarter to pull out the victory. Emily Richard added nine points for the Cougars, now 19-14 on the season.
Cinco will open up the playoffs next week against Houston Madison at a site and time to be determined.

KATY, TX---Emily Richard scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out five assists as Cinco Ranch defeated Katy 57-34 on Friday night at KHS. Richard was 8-14 from the field as the Cougars shot 40% for the game. With the win, Cinco improves to 18-14 and finished 9-3 in 19-5A. Corin Evans added 15 points on 7-10 shooting and also had five rebounds. Angie Moore and Jaylon McClure each chipped in with seven points and Cayla Vanderweide had six points, with Moore grabbing eight rebounds. Sydney Thomas and Vanderweide each had four assists.

KATY, TX---Cinco Ranch shot 47% from the field but it wasn't not enough as Seven Lakes defeated the Cougars 44-31 on Tuesday night at CRHS. Sydney Thomas led Cinco led with 11 points on the evening. Charissa Enget had six rebounds and Angie Moore pulled down five rebounds. Enget and Corin Evans each had eight points for the Cougars, who are now 17-14 and 8-3 in 19-5A. With Taylor's loss to Memorial, Cinco has clinched the 2nd seed out of 19-5A and will play the 3rd place team out of 20-5A in the Bi-District Playoffs.

| Posted Jan 25/13 - Moore's game winner lifts Cougars over Mustangs, 36-33 |
KATY, TX---Angie Moore converted a three point play with 19 seconds left to lift Cinco Ranch to a 36-33 road victory over Taylor on Friday night at THS. The Cougars led the entire 2nd half until Taylor finally tied the game up at 33 on a free throw. Moore then hit the game winner on an assist from Jaylon McClure and the Cougars held on the defensive end to preserve the victory. Moore finished the night with 13 points on 5-7 shooting and had a team leading seven rebounds. Sydney Thomas added nine points, Corin Evans scored six, and Charissa Enget pulled down five rebounds. Cinco did not attempt a free throw in the first half, but in the second half hit 7-9 from the charity stripe.
Cinco solidified its hold on the 2nd seed out of 19-5A with the victory. The Cougars trail Seven Lakes by 1.5 games with the Spartans having three games remaining and Cinco just two in district play.

| Posted Jan 22/13 - Cougars clinch playoff berth in battering of Rams, 57-27 |
KATY, TX---Sydney Thomas had 17 points and six steals, and Riley Humphrey had seven thefts to lead Cinco Ranch to a convincing 30 point victory over Mayde Creek on Tuesday night at CRHS. The Cougars had 22 steals on the night, and added sixteen deflections to fluster the Ram offense.
With the win Cinco clinches a berth in the state playoffs as one of the four entrants from 19-5A. It marks the 10th consecutive year the Cougars have made the field of 128.
Cinco jumped out to a 14-6 lead after one period and stretched the lead to 23-12 at intermission. Corin Evans scored nine of her 13 points in the first half and also finished with six rebounds. Cinco came out on fire in the third quarter, as five different players contributed 22 points, including Thomas' eight tallies and Emily Richard's six points. Richard had three assists, four rebounds, and two steals to help power Cinco to their seventh district victory against just two defeats. Cayla Vandwerweide added three steals, Angie Moore three assists and four deflections, and the Cougars turned the ball over just ten times on the evening. Jaylon McClure scored all seven of her points in the 2nd half and also pulled down six rebounds.
The Cougars will travel to Taylor on Friday night in a battle of 2nd and 3rd place teams in 19-5A.

KATY, TX---Jaylon McClure and Angie Moore each posted double-doubles as Cinco Ranch powered its way past Morton Ranch 55-42 on Friday night at MRHS. McClure led Cinco with 14 points on the evening while pulling down 10 rebounds. Moore added 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Sydney Thomas also hit for double figures with 11 points, while also adding six assists and five rebounds. Corin Evans pulled down 10 rebounds as Cinco had 45 boards on the night.
Cinco led 16-10 after one quarter and 24-18 at halftime. The Maverics cut the lead to five points, 43-38 in the fourth quarter, but the Cougars used a 12-4 run to end the game.

KATY, TX---Charissa Enget scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds to pace Cinco Ranch to a 53-34 victory over Katy on Tuesday night at CRHS. The Cougars led 11-8 after one quarter and 30-16 at halftime. Corin Evans scored 10 points and had eight rebounds, Angie Moore had eight points and seven rebounds, and Jaylon McClure added seven rebounds as the Cougars had 39 boards on the evening. Cinco improved to 13-13 on the season and 4-2 in 19-5A play.

KATY, TX---Corin Evans scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds, but the Cougars fell to Seven Lakes 52-40 on Friday night at SLHS. Sydney Thomas added eight points, three assists, and three steals. Angie Moore had nine points, seven rebounds, and three blocks. Jaylon McClure had seven points and four assists for the Cougars, who are now 3-2 in District 19-5A.

Cinco Ranch took part in the toughest tournament the state of Texas has to offer over the holidays, competing in the Sandra Meadows Classic in Duncanville. The 32 team tournament boasted Class 5A #1 Duncanville, #3 Plano West, #4 Clear Springs, #6 Bellaire, #9 DeSoto, #15 Temple, and #21 The Woodlands. There were also some of the top ranked Class 4A teams there as well in #2 Cedar Park Vista Ridge, #4 Beaumont Ozen, #12 Amarillo Palo Duro, and #22 Frisco Liberty. Class 3A # 2 Kennedale, Private School #1 Bishop Lynch, and #12 Westbury Christian were also in the bracket.
One game that garnered national attention was the quarterfinal matchup between #3 Plano West and #4 Clear Springs. In the highest scoring game in Texas girls history, Plano West defeated the Chargers 107-105 in five overtimes.

KATY, TX---Taylor used a strong third quarter to pull away from Cinco Ranch on Friday night, 46-35 at CRHS. Cinco led 11-10 after one quarter and trailed 19-18 at halftime. Taylor scored 17 points in the third quarter to open up a 36-30 lead.
Corin Evans scored 12 points for Cinco, while Sydney Thomas and Angie Moore each added 7 points. Moore grabbed 10 rebounds and Evans had eight. Jaylon McClure also had a strong rebounding night with eight.

Former Cinco Ranch standout and Rice freshman Megan Palmer was named C-USA freshman of the week last week. Palmer is averaging 12.7 ppg and 7.6 rpg for the Owls. She has scored more than 14 points in five of the Owls eight games on the year, including a season high 24 in a win over McNeese State. She has had 14 rebounds in the win over McNeese and 11 more in a win over Chicago State over the weekend.

Members of the Lady Cougar basketball program participated in helping deliver bikes to impoverished children in the Greater Houston area over the weekend. The players helped service Scroggins Elementary School in Houston and off loaded more than 600 bikes for the youngsters. There is a photo album located in the 'Photos' section to the left.
