VERMILLION – Six different players had two hits each as the Yankton Tappers downed the Vermillion Grey Sox 3-2 in amateur baseball action on Sunday at Prentis Park.
Kenny Tomek had a triple, a single and a run scored, and Kory Bromley doubled and singled for Yankton. Ross Heine had two hits and a run scored. Jason Livermont, Colton Thomas and Devin Gullikson each had two hits in the victory.
Jon Merrigan had three hits and Mike Moran had a double, a single and a RBI for Vermillion.
Jesse Bailey struck out seven over 7 1/3 innings of work for the win, with Mike Janish striking out two in 1 2/3 innings for the save. Rusty Jensen took the loss.
Yankton, 7-3, travels to Freeman on Tuesday.
