Game Notes: The much-anticipated Twin-Bill versus Kettle Moraine has finally arrived. The thinking around town was that a 2-Game sweep would put Pius back in Conference Race. Game #1 didn’t turn out as planned, as Pius lost the opener 5-1. The 2nd Inning led to the undoing, and sent the Popes into the loss column. The Inning started out fairly harmless with a KM F9 fly out. A Single, an Error, a couple of BB’s, and a couple more hits, and guess what? All of sudden it was 5-0 KM. Take the KM 2nd Inning out of the mix and Pius wins 1-0, however, you can’t beat too many teams with a 3-Hit attack. Especially those that are fundamentally sound, like KM. Junior Steve Lenski started for Pius and outside of the 2nd Inning, pitched well in the loss, allowing only 2 additional hits and striking out 5, while going 6-Innings. Senior Scott Perry came on in relief and pitched a scoreless 7th Inning. Dan Foy clubbed a Dbl. Scott Perry and Kevin Doerr each had a Single. And that’s it folks…………….
