Game Notes: Pius was poised to redeem itself from an early season (almost) meltdown against Mukwonago. The Popes eventually snuck out of Rainbow with a late rally to seize a 7-6 victory. Today was a different story. The Popes jumped out with 6-Runs on only 2-Hits in the first at Mukwonago, and never looked back. Although Pius managed just 5-Hits in the contest, Mukwonago pitching helped the cause immensely. If it wasn’t a BB or HBP, it was the Indians defense. The 6-Run 1st was highlighted with a Tim Pauly 3-Run HR to Left Field. After a 2-run 3rd and 1-Run 4th, Pius was ahead 9-0 after 4-Innings. The Popes closed it out in the 6th with 2 more runs to make it 11-0. Mukwonago plated a run in the 6th; however, it wasn’t enough as the Mercy rule was invoked. The Pius victory sent the Indians home wandering, what just happened here? Senior Tim Pauly started for Pius and got the win while allowing 1-Run on 4-Hits, and striking out 4. Dan Foy had a Dbl. Lenski (reached 3X’s), Seagraves, and Doerr (reached 3X’s) rounded out the attack with a Single each. Scott Schreck scored 2-Runs, and Sean Saglin reached 4X’s.
