Game Notes: Pius jumped out early on Hale and made an easy time of it as the Popes rolled to the 9-5 victory. There were some anxious moments early on as Hale was able to keep it close through the first 4-Innings. Pius broke out for 5-Runs in the bottom of the 5th to take a 9-4 lead and put it away. Hale showed some life in the 7th with a 1-Run, but a couple of 4-3 groundouts ended it on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in West Allis. Sophomore Justin Hunt started for Pius and pitched 5 strong Innings allowing 4-Runs on 4-Hits, while striking out 6 in recording win. Jesse Stewart threw 2-Innings allowing 1-run on 4-Hits while striking out 2. Pius managed only 5-Hits in the game. Jeremy Penn had a 2 for 3 day (with a Triple), and reaching 3X’s, and scoring 1-Run. Stewart, Schreck, and Doerr contributed with a Single each. Foy and Lenski scored 2-Runs each. Some shoddy Defense on Hale’s part helped the Pius cause. Not a lot of Offense today, but just enough to get the job done.
