Game Notes: Looks like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde decided to return to town to take in a game? Hopefully they were just passing through. After an emotional late inning win against Mukwonago on Friday, the Popes came out flat on Saturday afternoon at Oak Creek and fell 8-2. Oak Creek pitcher Abromatis fanned the first 3 Pius hitters to set the tone for the game. With Senior Tim Pauly on the hill, Pius was hoping to knock-off the powerful Knights. Pauly got off to rocky start in the 1st, and the team couldn’t recover from the 5 run deficit. Pius closed the gap to 5-2 in the 3rd, and tried to mount some offense in the 4th and 6th, but a DP and groundout ended those scoring threats. You have to make adjustments early and often when things aren’t going your way, Pius did not. This was a day when some Senior Leadership was needed, but it failed to materialize. You can’t expect to spot Oak Creek 5-runs and get a win. This game was another chance for the Pius club to send a message to the area that the team is for real, but it will have to wait for another day. Pius could only muster 2-Hits on the afternoon, singles each by Steve Lenski and Dan Foy, while Oak Creek pounded out 9-Hits, including a HR. The Pius offense decided to take the day off.
