Game Notes: Round 2 at Miller Park. There’s never a dull moment when these 2 teams get together. This one goes to Pius, 6-5, but it wasn’t easy. Pius had a chance to deliver the knockout punch early by scoring 4-Runs in the top of the 1st, on 4-Hits, but Marquette hung tough and eventually made a game of it in the end. The Popes were breezing along 6-1 after 4-Innings. OK, looking good, but remember its Pius versus Marquette. These 2 teams always seem to play each other tough, and today was no different. Marquette scored 4-Runs in the top of the 5th to trim the lead 6-5 after 5. Justin Hunt started for Pius and looked solid through 4, and still looked strong in the top of the 5th, but. After 2 quick outs in the 5th, a BB, couple of Hits and an error opened the gate for Marquette, and all of a sudden it’s 6-5 Pius. Scott Perry came on in relief of Hunt in the 5th and got Pius out of the Inning. Perry pitched a scoreless 6th, and recorded the first 2-Outs in the 7th before Tim Pauly closed out the game. Scott Schreck ended it by snaring a line drive off the bat of Nick Rechlitz. Hunt got the win, Pauly the Save. Once again, Scott Perry came in and did the job in his long relief role. Pius managed only 5-Hits in the game, all Singles. But it was enough today. All of the Pius players made an appearance in the game today.
