Braves Drop DH to Richmond
Posted March 26, 2016
The Burnaby Braves dropped a pair of scheduled five inning games Saturday afternoon against the Richmond Chuckers by scores of 3-1 and 5-0. The teams played scrimmage innings beyond the official 4 1/2 innings in both games; however, the runs scored in those innings are not reflected in the final score. The opener saw Richmond no-hit the Braves while Sam Van Snellenberg and Evan Hoegler combined to one hit the Chuckers. In the nightcap, the Chuckers jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a three run two out rally in the bottom of the first and cruised to the win. Jonny Servidad and Sam Van Snellenberg each had two hits in the loss. Servidad's second hit, a bloop single to right, plated two runs in the scrimmage 6th inning. Kaz Kada threw 2 2/3 of no-hit ball, striking out two, to earn himself the coveted Braves tomahawk. In eleven innings pitched on the day, the five Braves pitchers combined to only walk two Richmond hitters. The Braves travel to White Rock for a rare Monday matinee to make-up for Thursday's rainout. Jonny Servidad will start for the Braves, with Jack Yaremko, and Williams Camacho-Soto scheduled in relief.
