LHS JV Prepares for Final 4 Games
Posted May 3, 2017
For all varsity teams across the state, the end of the regular season means it's go time, it's time to play in the playoffs. However, for all the junior varsity teams across the state, the end of the regular season means no more spring baseball. While most teams have jv players on varsity, the jv season is still over. As the LHS Baseball team comes down to its final four games, the JV has their eye on some wins.
The LHS JV has four games remaining and the schedule below shows the games with approximate start times due to varsity starting first.
LHS JV has played Canton once but that is the only team that they have played. The Tea Area and Canton games are rivalry games in which the LHS JV will need to have their heads on straight in order to win. Last time the JV went up against Canton they had their heads on. Lennox faced a hard throwing pitcher who was good but they scored six runs and pulled off a 6 to 3 win over Canton. This was a solid team win where Lennox's JV ended a losing streak.
Last season, the LHS JV ended up with 1 loss and 1 tie playing against Tea as they fell 10 to 3 on April 9th and then tied 5 to 5 in Tea on April 13th. While battling McCook Central/ Montrose, the Lennox JV got the win last season at a final score of 7 to 2.
Last year, the JV was not having a successful season to start as they had 2 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie after 8 games. However, the Lennox JV finished with 5 straight wins over McCook, Canton, Tri-Valley, Garretson, and Sioux Falls Christian. This gave the JV a winning record with 7 wins, 5 losses and 1 tie and for the second straight year the LHS JV earned a winning record.
Last season the LHS JV found a hot streak winning their final five games and earning a winning record. This season, the LHS JV is currently at a 4 win and 5 loss record. However, like last season, don't count these Orioles out as they could catch fire and pick up the final four games and finish again with a winning record. Tonight's game has been moved to 6:00 for varsity with JV expected to start around 8.
With the rain holding off for now, tonight's gametime forcast is supposed to be partly cloudy with a gametime temperature of 60 degrees. So bring a lawn chair and a light jacket cause there is gonna be some good baseball tonight in Canton!
