LHS JV falls to 2-4 after Nail Biting Finish vs Tuner/Hutch
Posted April 19, 2017
Lennox JV made a comeback in the second inning to tie the game at 5 but came up short in their comeback bid in the 3rd inning.
Lennox JV started off hot with a 2-0 record defeating Garretson and Tri-Valley both of which were shutouts performed by Lennox's defense. After that, runs and hits have been hard to come by for Lennox as they have lost four straight losses.
The most recent loss was a well battled loss for Lennox as they fell behind 5-0 after one and half innings. However, Lennox found their gear as they got two walks, two errors, a hit by pitch and singles from sophomore Holden Wagner and sophomore Blayne Wallenstein. This led to four runs. However, a balk from the Tuner/ Hutchinson pitcher scored the tying run.
The Dirt Dogs scratched across a go ahead run in the top of the 3rd. Due to the lack of pitching from Turner/ Hutch, it was only going to be a 3 inning game. Lennox got walks from JD Halverson and Masen Miller to put the tying and winning runs on base. After a strikeout and a line out, Marcus Metivier came up and reached via an error to load the bases. Junior Josh VanHouten came up knowing a single could win the game for Lennox. VanHouten took ball one and on the second pitch sent a screaming line drive toward the right side. The Dirt Dog second baseman reached to his left and was able to snag it on the end of his glove. Lennox had fallen 6-5 though they were inches from winning it.
Lennox showed fight in that game and it showed the bats can still come alive when needed. Lennox JV will host Canton's JV after the varsity game on Friday the 21st. The start time will be around 7:30. With the forcast of 62 degrees and sunny, there is no reason not to make it to the ballpark to watch the LHS Baseball team.
