LHS JV Prepares for Annual DV JV Invitational
Posted April 26, 2017
The Oriole JV will look to continue their winning streak as they prepare for the 2017 Dakota Valley JV Invitational. This years invitational will be held on Sunday in Dakota Valley with four teams being present.
Last season, Lennox participated in the tournament with their first round game being against the juinor varsity team from Parkston. Josh VanHouten was the starting pitcher as he threw four innings allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run while striking out 3. Lennox's 6 run first inning was fueled by 5 walks and two singles one of which from Jacob Ziegler which gave LHS a 6 to 0 lead. Parkston crawled back in to the game making it a two run game in the top of the 7th. An error brought in a run for Parkston. However, Tyson Stoebner got the groundout back to himself to retire the inning and the game. The championship game didn't go Lennox's way as they fell 13-0 to Dakota Valley. DV threw a very good pitcher who was just a little too much for Lennox's JV to handle.
This season, the Lennox JV comes in with a 4 and 4 record. Last season heading into the tournament, Lennox had 1 win, 4 losses and 1 tie meaning that the 2017 season's team has played in more games while also being more successful. Lennox could be very competitive in this weekend's tournament.
The official details have not yet been released. Last year, the games were at 10, 12, 2 and 4. Lennox played at 12 and when they won they played at 4 in the championship. The four teams that competed were Dakota Valley, Lennox, Elk Point and Parkston. This years tournament should be similar but nothing says that it will be the same. Lennox will make their way to Renner to battle in a big District 3 South game versus Sioux Falls Christian on Saturday the 29th as varsity will start at 4:00 and JV will follow starting around 6:00 Then, the LHS JV will make their way down to Dakota Valley for two seven inning games battling against two other junior varsity teams. The JV will look for revenge as last years tournament runner up finish will certainly be in their minds.
