Posted Nov 13/12 - Pflugerville defeats A&M Consolidated 93-36 behind four double-figure scorers

BRYAN, Texas -- Led by a season-high 18 points from senior forward Diana Omozee, the state-ranked Pflugerville Panthers cruised to a 93-36 victory over A&M Consolidated Tuesday night. The Panthers, now 2-0, had four players in double-figure scoring. P'ville led A&M Consolidated (1-2) at the half by a 58-14 margin.

Omozee, who will sign a National Letter of Intent to play college basketball at Big 12 Conference member Oklahoma State on Wednesday, added five rebounds and three blocks to her effort. Joining her in double-figure scoring was senior guard Amy Staha (13 points), junior forward Jaden Sturm (12 points) and junior guard Stephanie Onyeje (10 points). Sturm had a game-high seven steals while Onyeje finished with six. On Wednesday, Staha will sign her National Letter of Intent to play at Division I Northwestern State.

In the preseason state polls, Pflugerville stood No. 2 in the TABC/Tex Preps Basketball Magazine rankings and No. 4 in the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) preseason ranks. The weekly regular season polls have not yet started.

The Panthers return to action Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 15-17, playing in the Greater Austin Tournament. The tourney is hosted by McNeill High School, but Pflugerville will host its share of games each day. Please check back for the tourney schedule.

PANTHER JV AND FRESHMAN ALSO POST WINS OVER A&M CONSOLIDATED

The Pflugerville junior varsity and freshmen teams both moved to 2-0 with wins over their A&M counterparts Tuesday. The Panther JV won 60-29 behind freshmen guard Mikiel Bureleson (15 points) and sophomore guard Alyssa Washington (12 points). The freshmen posted a close 38-32 win with Alaisa Chester leading the way with 13 points.

The P'ville junior varsity and freshmen teams also will participate in the Greater Austin Tournament Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 15-17. Please check back for the tourney schedule.
