Posted Dec 14/10 - Panthers increase win streak to six games with 54-41 win over state-ranked San Antonio Wagner
PFLUGERVILLE, Texas -- With balanced scoring and a tough defense, state-ranked Pflugerville held off another state power, San Antonio Wagner, 54-41 Tuesday night at the Panther Gym. The win was Pflugerville's sixth in a row and moves Coach Nancy Walling's Panthers to 11-2. San Antonio Wagner drops to 11-4.

P'ville is ranked No. 6 and Wagner No. 20 in this week's Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) 5A poll. In the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches/Tex Preps Basketball Magazine weekly rankings, the Panthers are ranked 12th and Wagner is 14th.

The game saw Pflugerville up to five at the break, 25-20.

The lone Panther in double-figure scoring was senior forward Adesuwa Ebomwonyi who finished with 11 points to go with six rebounds. Junior guard Ari Booth chipped in with nine points, while three players had eight points each - senior post Nneka Enemkpali, sophomore point guard  (Taliyah Brooks and junior forward Itiana Taylor.

Taylor ripped down a team-high 12 rebounds and also had a team-best five steals. Enemkpali finished with six rebounds along with Ebomwonyi, while Brooks had four steals.

Providing quality minutes off the bench for Pflugerville were senior post Dee Hyder and senior guard Jasmyn Booker.

Pflugerville will now leave the state of Texas for its next competition when it travels this weekend to Lake Charles, La. for the Rumble in the Bluff Tournament taking place Friday-Sunday, Dec. 16-18. The Panthers travel on Friday and will face its toughest opponent to date at 8 p.m. Friday evening - top five nationally-ranked and undefeated (15-0) Westbury Christian from Houston at Lake Charles' Sam Houston HS. The private school Westbury Christian stands No. 4 in this week's ESPN Rise Powerade Fab 50 national rankings, and also is the No. 13 ranked team according to the USA Today Super 25 national rankings.

On Saturday, the Panthers square off against two opponents - Parkway HS (from Bossier City, La.) at 11:40 a.m. and then St. Louis Catholic (from Lake Charles) at 5 p.m., with both games at Sam Houston HS.

The tournament features 28 teams playing at three different sites (Sam Houston HS, Moss Bluff Middle School and Westlake Recreation Center).

Pflugerville JV goes to 17-1 with 73-29 victory over San Antonio Wagner

In another outstanding team defensive effort, the Panther JV posted an easy 73-29 win over their San Antonio Wagner counterparts on Tuesday. The win moves Pflugerville to 17-1.

Pflugerville was paced by forward Diana Omozee's game-high 17 points. Guard Amy Staha added 13 to the winning effort.

The JV next plays on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. against District opponent Round Rock in Round Rock.
