The 2010 Season (The season without sun). We started off at the Deep Cove Dash for Charity where the answet to the question, "Can it rain ANY harder?" was always, "Yes". It's a water sport ... but seriously! Soaked to the core, we still had a great time. Our road trip to Whistler and a great course on Alta Lake did not include open skies. When 1,000 paddlers spontaneously cheer when the sun breaks through for 1 minute, you know you have a problem. Still, an awesome palcing with a silver medal. Harrison included sunshine! A quick one-day follow-up to Whistler, we took another silver medal when the team brought their game. Our road trip to Kelowna was another memorable end to the season. The team worked hard together to tweak our perfromances each time and we brought it in the end, surging from a boat length behind to half a second from 2nd place in the final. So proud of the team. Our last practice (for now) was help in October on a  beautiful night on False Creek. Can't wait to get back at it.

The 2009 Season - we missed the Dash for Charity this year but were able to get going to the Whistler Dragon Boat Festival, an awesome festival on Alta Lake. Richmond Festival ... meh ... Laurie got to steer for VanCity Thunder in Victoria as well as several international teams at the 2009 World Police & Fire Games in Vancouver (he's hoping to hook up with volunteers for the 2011 Games in NYC). We ended the season with a Bronze Medal in the Bronze A Division of the Kelowna Dragon Boat Festival ... a sweet end to a busy year. Hoping to build on success in 2010 and hopefully squeeze in Dash for Charity, DragonZone Regatta, and Harrision ... possibly some side trips to Victoria, Portland or SanFran.

The 2008 Season - We had a strong showing at the Dash for Charity on April 26th in support of the Adolescent Psychiatric Unit at BC Children's Hospital - hosted by the Deep Cove teams ... nice job. The False Creek Regatta in early June was a great warm up. At the Rio Tinto Alcan Festival the Team was awesome ... fought through Saturday, even down a person in the second race. Came together Sunday and gave it everything .. best races of the season. Ended up 5th in Recreational D Championship ... 49th out of 70 recreational teams ... nice work. Times: Sat AM Heat - 2:47.240 - 7th/7 Place Finish ... Sat PM Heat - 2:40.400 - (6th/7)(7 seconds off with only 19 paddlers!) ... Sun Rec C/D/E SemiFinal - 2:33.960 - (3rd/6)(Team Rocked - 7 more seconds off) ... Sun Rec D Championship Final - 2:29.400 - (5th/6)(Team Rocked Again)(broke 2:30 mark) Road trip! Finished the Paddle for the Kids ... had a blast and raised over $6,000 with the added help of our company's contribution to mark its 50 year celebrations. Finished 10th overall on the water ... we kicked a bit more butt in the obstacle course, even with only 15/20 paddlers. Nice job. Kelowna was a great showing and end of the season. Became very apparent what extra strokes and a quarter-sceond can mean - great surge to end the final race and the season.

The 2007 Season - it's a wrap and we're ready for 2008. A big congratulations to an awesome team for excelling through 2007 and facing diversity: medals and community cups along with near-collisions, a swamping, and surfing in Kelowna. We need to be careful what we wish for but what else could there be!?
