Congrats to Greg Johnson of the Mobile Swamp Angels. Greg signed with the Chicago White Sox this week and will be going to join his new team on August 2nd.  Greg played his college ball at the University of South Alabama. Congratulations Greg!

Several of our former players are now playing in the minors. DJ Jones and Chris Murrill are in the New York-Penn League and playing for the Hudson Valley Renegades.  Eric Gonzalez is now is playing in California for the Lake Elsinor Storm.

Our next BIG EVENT is the Home Run Derby that will be held on Wednesday Night, July 15, 2009 between games at Lipscomb Field.  Each team will have 2 participants and will have 10 swings each.  If there is a tie at the end of the first round, they will receive 5 swings.  If there is a tie after round 2, they will receive 5 more cuts. Awards will be given and raffles will take place that night with lots of prizes. Everyone come and support their teams big hitters.

Many thanks to Warren Hughes of the White Sox, Darren Mazeroski of the Pirates and Jim Bryant of the LA Angels for a great job at the Major League Work Out last Saturday.  We had over 60 participants and several made their debut on the Major League Scouting Bureau.  This list is circulated throughout the country for scouts to use next season during their travels. Thanks to all of the players for surviving the heat. We will schedule another event like this one next year.

This Saturday is our Major League Workout at the Lipscomb Complex. Wear your uniform because we will be identified by your team and number.  Position players need to arrive at 9:30 to sign in. Pitchers need to arrive at 11:30.
