June 23rd, Brian Sprout Leads In All Star Voting
As of Wednesday morning, the reigning 2009 Rambler MVP and franchise leader in game balls awarded was leading the All-Star voting for the Riverview league.
Sprout (.000, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 SB, 0 GP, 0 IP, .000 ERA) leads by 245,000 votes with the mid summer classic being just a few weeks away. Â
Future hall of fame volunteer Manger Ben Uko was not surprised by the news. “Sprout has yet to strike out and he has not committed a single error this year. And he is a really nice guy.” Uko added “We have really motivated interns. We don’t have home games or home fans to fill out the ballots so they need to be extra focussussed.”
June 22nd, 2010 Early lead does not hold, St. Louis Park prevails
This Monday the Ramblers squared off against the defending league champions, and they got off to a promising start after a Kyle McDermott three-run bomb in the top of the first.Â
Pitcher Erik Olson cruised through the first 6 innings allowing no runs. With the bases loaded and one out in the seventh Olson was pulled and recently activated pitcher Pete Loizzo took the hill. Loizzo allowed one run to score on a sac-fly and with two out allowed two more to score.Â
The Ramblers threatened many times during extra innings, but could not plate a run. In the bottom of the eleventh Loizzo allowed a sac-fly to score the winning run. Sadly, he was put back on the 60-day DL, but hopes to be able to wipe with his right hand in as soon as two weeks.
Ramblers lose 4-3.
