That's a wrap--After finishing first in the round robin at Saskatchewan Baseball Association provincial championships, the  A's struggled in the playoff round and the 2012 season ended.  Overall the season was very successful.  The A's started with an opening-day no-hitter, compiled an overall record of 31-21 and won the Moose Jaw Selects tournament. Many players contributed to the team's success with remarkable individual performances.

Jordan Schulz won the SPBL triple crown (.518, 4, 40), while Brandon Herney established a new team record batting average of .488, eclipsing the mark set by JP Wilner in 2007.  Schulz, Herney and Cole Boychuk were consistently amongst the league leaders in most offensive categories for the entire season. The season saw team records set or tied in every single offensive category.

It had to happen--  Adleman pitched a gem to register a 7-1 win over the SE Twins on Friday, June 8.  In the first game of Sunday's double-header, the A's stormed to a 12-2 victory after six innings, to record their eighth consecutive win.   But, alas, the A's fell to the Diamondbacks in the last game of the weekend.

Back on track-- After dropping three of four last weekend, the A's roared back with three decisive wins.  On Friday June 1, Brandon Herney pitched a 6-inning complete game to win over the visiting Moose Jaw Devons by a score of 11-1.  The game highlight had to be a triple by Brandon Radmacher in his first A's game of the season.

Sunday saw the A's field a full team for the first time this season.  Radmacher took the mound and dispatched the visiting Cubs 7-4 in the opener.  Nathan Adelman pitched three outstanding innings to record the win in the second game of the double-header.

The A's have a full schedule ahead of them, hosting Swift Current on June 5th, visiting Moose Jaw for two on the 6th, traveling to Estevan on Friday the 8th, and hosting the Dbacks for two on Sunday the 10th.  The Lethbridge Spitz Elks tourney begins with two games on Thursday June 14th.

 5 June 2012

Hey, what a weekend!!!!-After dropping the first game of the tournament to the Mets, the A's rattled off four straight wins to reach the final of the 20-team Moose Jaw Selects tournament, besting the Saskatoon Cubs, Southeast Twins, the White squad from the Okotoks Baseball Academy, and the Moose Jaw Canucks.  Winning pitchers for the A's were Nathan Adelman, Jesse LaRocque, Max Ritz and Ryan Wagner.

The gold medal game featured a dominant performance by Pat Kelley, who struck out nine, walked one, and allowed three hits to notch the 6-0, complete-game shutout over the Saskatoon Diamondbacks.

Solid pitching, lots of really hard hit balls, smart base-running and fewer errors. Great job, fellas!!!
