Note NCAA Recruiting Change and Rule Changes for High School:
Starting June 15th, NCAA D2 Coaches will have unlimited texting and phone calls to juniors (used to be only seniors). D1 and D III will implement next year.
Effective with the 2012-13 season, a second yellow card not only will disqualify a player, but the team will not be permitted to substitute for the disqualified player. Previously, a team was permitted to replace a player who had received a second yellow card.
Another change in Rule 12-8-1f now will disqualify a player who deliberately handles a ball in his/her own penalty area to prevent it from going in the goal only when the attempt to deny the goal is successful. If a goal is scored, the penalty is now a caution. Previously, a player was disqualified for trying to stop a goal from being scored, whether the try was successful or not.
Eligibility standards for NCAA Division I college-bound student-athletes are changing. College-bound student-athletes first entering a Division I college or university on or after August 1, 2015, will need to meet new academic rules in order to receive athletics aid (scholarship), practice or compete during their first year. Planning on playing Soccer in College? There is a college team somewhere for everyone who wants to play college soccer – you just have to find that school or schools. Also, you should be comfortable at the school of choice even if soccer suddenly is no longer in the picture.
Most players/parents need to make the necessary first contact in order to get recruited. This can be an exciting time for you and your child. Choosing a college to attend is a big decision and adding in athletics means it is an even more complicated decision. Enjoy the ride! See College Recruiting link courtesy of Sandhills Soccer Club below. Remember- you should start this process as early as possible.
See below for a list of most NC College Soccer Teams.
