GAME ON!!! hitting league resumes Wednesday night at 6pm!

November 10/09
Unfortunately hitting league has to be cancelled again this week.  Please check back for updates, we are looking to resume Wednesday November 25th.

November 2/09                                               **Important update for this week**
Practice is cancelled this Wednesday due to the World Series game 6 at Yankee Stadium.  The Yankees are on the verge of clinching their unparallelled 27th championship and really... who wants to miss it!?!?

Practice will resume next Wednesday at 6pm

GO YANKEES GO!!!

October 28/09
The second week of CLL's hitting league was a 'smashing' success!! With a 7-man turn-out the Jaco boys picked sides and squared off in a 3 inning affair that saw the Phillies overtake the Yankees 76-64.  Alex, Hayden and Andrew each racked up 20+ point nights to defeat an unlucky Yankees squad consisting of Tyler, Brett, John and Shawn.  The star of the night, picking up the first weekly batting title was Tyler Jaco with a 23 point game!

Cudos to the Phillies for the exhibition win! We are still looking for more players so we can set up teams and a schedule... Tell your teammates!  Next game... Wednesday night 6pm.

October 21/09
New to Coquitlam the Junior squad is developing a winter hitting league to be implimented during our Wednesday night sessions.  Temporarily players will be assigned teams of 3, however if attendence allows players will choose their own teams to compete against each other on a weekly basis.  Scoring points for quality swings, the top hitter is appointed each night as batting champ, and a winning team is decided.  Prizes will be announced once all the bugs are worked out of the system.

This is a widely popular 'practice' in Southern California and allows players to take what they are learning from their batting coaches an apply it in a game type situation.

Tonights champions B.A.A.M. over the Mashing Mammoths 83-80!!!

October 14/09
After a disappointingly short Fall-Ball schedule the A's have finished with an 0-2 record.  Unfortunately the other local Jr. clubs have suspended play for the remainder of the Fall/Winter which has forced the A's to follow suit.  With much to work on over the off-season the Jr. A's coaches have decided to retain their Wednesday time slot and encourage Junior players to come out and work on their game, however there will be no weekend games.

Practices will run Wednesday nights 6-8pm time depending on weather.  Make sure to ALWAYS bring a change of shoes in case we are forced indoors.

October 11/09
Another tough loss for the green and black with yellow and grey trim.  The Coquitlam Jr Fall-Ball squad dropped the second straight of the season to the North Shore Jr. Jr. Twins Saturday.  Keeping it a low scoring affair into the 4th, the A's developed a 1 run lead, but timely hitting from the Twins lineup placed bloop singles in the grass as they took a 5-1 lead in the top half of the 6th.  The A's managed to gain a couple back, but the Twins forged an insurmountable lead and defeated the A's 9-3.  The A's coaching staff took mental notes throughout the game and look to Wednesday's practice to work on some fundamentals at the big diamond.

Practice Wednesday night 6pm.  If its raining we are going to hit in the cage so bring runners!

October 3/09
Practice Wednesday night at 6!!

Double-dip Saturday versus the North Shore Jr Jr Twins at Blue Mountain.. lets avenge last Saturday's loss!!

October 1/09
No game this weekend... Practice at 10am Saturday, October 3.

September 26/09
A cold and windy Saturday afternoon set the stage for the Junior's first game of the fall-ball season.  Squaring off against the North Shore Jr. Jr. Twins for the first of many this season the A's looked solid considering only being together for 2 practices.  Utilizing their deep pitching staffs, both sides elected to throw new pitchers each inning, limiting pitch counts to 35.  Giving up an early 1-0 lead in the first, the A's bats retaliated to cash 1 of their own in the bottom half.  Unfortunately for your Juniors, their bats weren't as stellar as hoped as baserunners fell few and far between.  Heads up baserunning by the 2nd year boys lead the A's to a 3-1 lead into the 6th.  The opposition finally managed to plate their runners in the top half of the 6th, taking a 6-3 lead and they never looked back.  Cashing in on inexperience on the 80ft basepaths the Twins defeated the A's in an extended 8 inning affair.

Highlights of the game include Curtis Taylor dealing 4 K's on the day, Austin MacDonald smashing an RBI triple and Hayden Jaco sitting down the side in order.

Revenge for the A's is forthcoming as they square off again against the Twins on Saturday October 10th in a possible double header.  Practice Wednesday night, 6pm Blue Mountain.

September 23/09
With 2 practices under our belts the Junior A's fall-ball team looks to take on the North Shore Jr. Jr. Twins this weekend.  A mixed group of up and coming 13 yr olds and veteran 14 yr olds will be taking the field for an ACTUAL nooner on Saturday at Blue Mountain.  First pitch 12:04pm.  Players are to arrive by 10:45am, shoes on ready to go by 11! EVERYONE WEARING LONG SLEEVES!

The fall-ball schedule is yet to be released as the coaching staff has yet to set finalized practice times and pick up more games... updates to follow every practice.

September 4, 2009

Congratulations to the Junior A's for representing Canada for the 2nd straight year at the JLWS!  As the nights grow cooler and the days run shorter, the Fall season for CLL is just about to begin!  After a short break from baseball our Coquitlam boys ranging from 12-16 are preparing for a new season and winter training.  Our first-class facilities enable our boys to work on strength and skills training throughout the offseason in preparation for another hopeful post-season birth at the Canadian Championships!

The gents have designed their National Championship rings and look forward to spending some quality time with the GIGANTIC trophy they won in Langley.  10th best in the World, Coquitlam's Juniors have gained a ton of playing experience and deserve to be in the elite class of players that have emerged from Canada in recent history.  Way to go boys!

A HUGE THANKS to all the parents and families of our boys for their confidence and support.

A special thanks to our boys! Roman, Daulton, Mac, Heids, Pork Chop, Curty, Ajay, Struks, JP, Zaz, B, Ants and Ched-kashi... you guys made this a championship team!!!!

Our top-notch coaching staff: Wes Taylor, Larry Park and Tyler Olinyk

And finally a big THANK-YOU to the powers that be of CLL!! You made this experience possible and your support is beyond anything that could have been expected.

From everyone on the Jr A's..      Thank you
