Breaking News Today in DEFA

G.M. / Owner Sutton Olson officially announced today that the club has waived Landon Edwards from the team and will no longer count against their 8 man roster. " Landon came to us a couple games into the season and wasn't overly impressed with his playing time and wanted out of Midwest. We tried shopping him around but the right deal just never seem to get done." Says Olson.
Edwards had not seen the ice in 4 regular season games this year but many teams especially the Nites are very interested in picking the kid up. G.M. of the Maniacs did not give out any information on who or if they would be picking anyone one up in Edwards place

The high-stake draft was intense and tiring, but after two long hours the teams were decided.
Each manager had a similar checklist, dedication, willingness to goaltend, and overall skill.
"We saw a lot of tendies (goal tenders) go early," says Sutton Olson, " They are a key aspect on a team, and although very important, it's tough to find a kid that will throw on the pads and "produce." Olson, manager of the Mid west maniacs, was one of the first to look to the younger grades for net keeping. Nial Mills (15th overall) is a young grade eight student ready to make the jump into elite floor hockey.  He was more than happy to sign a deal with The maniacs, and his parents were proud of his accomplishment making the top fifteen as a '97. " I just wanna get out there and prove to everyone that i belong. It's a dream come true, and right now my number one priority is mentally and physically preparing myself for the team. There are a lot of young goalies who would kill for this opportunity, so i will show my coaches and teamates that i can compete at this level," says Mills. Other young goalies to go in the draft included:

Jordan McCausland (10th)
Mitch Vandendorpe (16th)
Jared Maxwell (26th)

On behalf of myself and the league, we would like to wish everyone a great season! Play hard and Have fun!

yours sincerely,

Laughlin H Mckinnon
