Posted May 14/11 - Firebirds & Indians tie in friendly scrimmage

The Firebirds hosted the Mukwonago Indians-Gray in a friendly scrimmage that ended in a 14-14 tie.  Ray Sevilla led the way for the Firbirds with 2 big hits - including the breakout RBI double to go with three steals, and Trent Shoemaker & Masen Kruchten terrorized the Indians defense with a combined 10 steals, including Kruchten's game-tying steal of home.  Also notable were Marshall Dove who got his first base hit as a Firebird, and Nathaniel Dominguez who pitched solidly for the home squad.

Up next, the Firebirds have their season opener against the Lannon Stonemen at Schneider Field in Lannon.  Ryan Kish will be taking the bump for our boys and we hope to get the league season off on the right foot!

Posted May 11/11 - Scrimmage, May 13th
The Firebirds will scrimmage the Mukwonago Indians - Gray on Friday, May 13th at 5:45pm at Waukesha South High School.  We'll welcome back former Firebirds Aaron Schulist and A.J. Gengler and we look forward to a fun scrimmage against a tough team!  All players please report by 5:00 pm for batting practice & field warm-ups.
Posted May 4/11 - Firebirds edge Braves, 8-7

The Firebirds jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead and held off a furious Braves charge to win 8-7 at Town Field.  Dillon Nelson started the scoring with a booming RBI triple to right center, scoring Matthew Schneider.  Ryan Kish capped the scoring with a clutch 2 RBI single in the 4th, giving him 3 RBIs for the night.  Other notable plate performances were turned in by Quentin Dagostini, Jakob Paquette, and John Crawford who all reached base in every plate appearance.  Quentin also stole 4 bases and scored the decisive run.

The Firebirds hurlers also turned in a stellar performance, only issuing 3 walks in 4 innings.  Trent Shoemaker started and chalked up his first 2011 win striking out 2 in his inning of work, Masen Kruchten continued his strong spring and induced a big double play in the 2nd, Dillon Nelson turned in a strong first outing of the spring, and Quentin Dagostini nailed it shut with his first save of the spring, striking out four (!) batters in his inning of work due to a freak play that a Braves batter reached base after the 3rd strike was dropped and the subsequent throw to 1st caromed off the batter's helmet.
