DINOS DROP 1 TO PBA
The Dinos baseball team dropped a rain shortened game one to PBA at home on Wednesday by the score of 10-3. Afer completing 5 innings rain forced game one to be called and game two was cancelled. The Dinos and PBA will try and make up their remaining game later in the week. With the loss the Dinos record is now 11-11.
Due to the weather the Dinos remaining games of the season will possibly be changed in order to fit games in. Please check back and view the Dinos schedule for updated times and/or location.
DINOS IN FIGHT FOR PLAYOFF POSITION
After going 1 and 3 this past weekend, the Dinos see themselves in a fight for a playoff position. In game one of the weekend the Dinos blew a 7-0 3rd inning lead and lost the game 10-9. Game 2 was a pitchers duel which saw PBA take the game 4-3. The Dinos rebounded from a tough day one and earned themselves a 6-5 victory in game 3. Game 4 was a route in favour of PBA by the score of 14-2.
The Dinos now have a big week ahead. With a doubleheader at home on Wednesday vs PBA and a 4 game series against Kwantlen next Monday/Tuesday, whom the Dinos are battling with for the last playoff spot, every game is that much more important. DINOS SPLIT AT HOME
With their first games of the year at home the Dinos came out swinging and took game one of the doubleheader versus PBA 10-4. The Dinos could not complete the 2 game sweep and dropped the second game 7-1. The Dinos head to Lethridge for a 4 game series this weekend before returning home next Wednesday.
DINOS BENEFIT FROM MISFORTUNE
Due to an eligibility infraction within the CCBC the University of Calgary has been awarded 7 victories. The Dinos now see their record at 9 and 6 and in third place. With 12 games remaining the Dinos still find themself in a fight to remain in the playoff picture.
GAMES CANCELLED THIS WEEKEND
The University of Calgary Dinos and PBA Dawgs have been forced to cancel their 4 game series this weekend. The games will be made up with 2 games being played at Foothills Stadium on Wednesday April 30th and as well on Wednesday May 7th. Both doubleheaders are scheduled for a 2pm start.
DINOS DROP 1 TO MALASPINA,SNOWED OUT OF FINAL 3
The Dinos dropped game 1 to the Mariners by a score of 9-2. Once again the Dinos held the score tight while trailing 4-2 heading into the bottom of the 7th but gave up 5 and another big inning. The big inning late has kept the Dinos win total down this year.
DINOS STRUGGLE; 1 AND 5 ON THE WEEKEND
With a successful day 1, picking up their 2nd win of the year, the Dinos struggled the remainder of the weekend dropping 4 in a row. As the Dinos fight to regroup, and tied for the 4th and final playoff spot, the last 16 games will be crucial in their push to earn a playoff spot. The Dinos have the weekend off to get back to basics and ready themselves for an April 18th-20th showdown with the Malaspina Mariners.
DINOS GO 1 AND 3 ON WEEKEND
With a 4 game series in Kamloops vs TRU the Dinos got off Friday evening to a great start with a come from behind 7-6 victory. The Dinos were able to put 3 runs on the board in the 9th to steal the victory.
In game 1 on Saturday the Dinos came up short in a 3 hour marathon, 8-5. Game 2 saw TRU put up 6 runs in the bottom of the 1st and go onto a 10-0 victory.
With the final game of the series being Sunday morning the Dinos were looking for the split. Unfortunately the Dinos while leading most of the game but were unable to make routine plays that cost them 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to give up their 4-3 lead. The Dinos dropped the final game 5-4.
The Dinos next action has them travelling back to Kamloops this coming week to square off with TRU, Kwantlen and Malaspina.
DINOS DROP 4 TO OPEN CONFERENCE
As Dinos pitching was solid all weekend it was the big inning the Dinos could not stop. In 3 of the 4 games the Dinos were able to hold leads or be tied going into the 5th inning but could not hold on for victories. The Dinos offense was able to keep games close but could not manufacture key runs when it counted.
The Dinos dropped its openning 2 games to PBA by scores of 8-3 and 10-4. In game one the Dinos held a 3-1 lead going into the bottom of the 5th and in game 2 were even at 4 entering the 5th. On Saturday the Dinos dropped game 1 to TRU 10-7 after holding a 6-4 lead after 7 innings. In game 2 the Dinos could not manufacture enough runs and fell 4-1.
The Dinos next action will see them heading to Kamloops for a 4 game series against undefeated TRU.
CANADIAN COLLEGE BASEBALL CONFERENCE NEWS
The CCBC has announced that starting in the Spring of 2008 the play-off structure will be changed. This coming season will mark the first season in which the last place team in Conference will not earn a berth into the Championship weekend. The change makes all Conference games that much more important.

DINOS DINNER A SUCCESS
The University Of Calgary Dinos Baseball Club would like to thank all those that attended and help support this years fundraising dinner. With a tremendous turn out and Jack Morris as the key-note speaker the night was once again one to remember. Thank you to all those people that helped make the evening a success. We hope to see you all again in 2009.
DINOS CLOSE OUT FALL SEASON WITH 4TH ANNUAL MARATHON GAME
The Calgary Dinos Baseball Club closes out their Fall schedule with the "4th Annual Dinos Marathon Game". The game is set for 10am on Saturday, October 20th at Foothills Stadium. The Dinos ask that all those wishing to help support the Dinos Baseball Club come out and take in the event.
RINTOUL OFF TO TEXAS
The Dinos Baseball Club is happy to announce that Brad Rintoul has set his sites south of the border and will be catching at Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas for the upcoming season. After 2 years with the Dinos, Brad played for his hometown Medicine Hat Mavericks this summer and is taking off to Texas this week to join his new team. "With Brad being mainly a catcher he is willing to do whatever will help the team. For us last year we needed a third baseman and Brad filled that void playing almost every game. Getting back to his natural position will benefit Brad in the long run" says Coach Fystro. The Dinos Baseball Club wishes Brad the best of luck and continued success.
HODGINS OFF TO SPOKANE FALLS
The Dinos Baseball Club is happy to announce that Connor Hodgins has set his sites south of the border and will be pitching at Spokane Falls Community College for the upcoming season. After a successful 2007 CCBC season Hodgins was then a part of the WMBL Champion Okotoks Dawgs. "Connor has worked very hard over the last 2 years and his time with the Dawgs and the time the coaching staff put in with him has payed dividends quickly. Losing one of our starting pitchers is going to be tough to replace but we are always happy to see guys move on into quality programs and further their dreams" says Coach Fystro.

ˇDINO BASEBALL MISSION STATEMENT:
The University of Calgary Baseball Club will provide student-athletes the opportunity to develop their skills as a baseball player in a competitive college baseball program while obtaining a quality education in their chosen field.
ˇDINO BASEBALL PHILOSOPHY:
Entering our fourth season, and our second as a member of the CCBC, the Dino Baseball program offers players a college conference schedule based out of a Triple-A level facility, under the guidance of high level coaching while the student athlete pursues a top level education.
The Dino baseball program is a competitive program for Canadian players considering an alternative to spending their first two years at an American Junior College. The level of play is equal and often superior to a Junior College experience at a FRACTION of the cost, not to mention a much superior education.
We develop players for transfer to NAIA and NCAA programs in Canada and the US, hence building the Dino programs re****tion for player development and competitiveness. Once the program attains varsity status , the program will cement its place as a realistic and competitive alternative to any other Canadian or US program.
ˇPLAYER ELIGIBILITY:
To be eligible for the Dino baseball program all players must be attending the University of Calgary or Mount Royal College or a combination of, as a full-time student (three class - nine credit minimum). Prospective players are encouraged to discuss their individual circumstances with the coaches.
ˇCOMPETITION:
The Dinos compete in both a fall and spring schedule. With the combined schedule the club plays (on average) 60 games per year against other Canadian and American College programs including conference games in the five team CCBC. Approximatly one third of the Dinos games are played against established American College programs.
ˇFACILITIES:
The Dinos play and practice at Calgary's Foothills Stadium (formally Burns Stadium)located beside the University of Calgary campus. The former home of the AAA-Calgary Cannons and current home of the Northern League's Calgary Vipers, Foothills Stadium is Calgary's finest baseball facility.
The Dinos conduct winter and early spring workouts in a combination of the the U of C's Jack Simpson and Red Gyms and various indoor facilities in Calgary.
