| The Three Rivers Conference District 1 AA Tournament is still underway at J. Fred Johnson Stadium in Kingsport, TN. On Sunday evening the Happy Valley Warriors eliminated the Sullivan North Raiders by the score of 5-1, behind a complete game effort from Jake Howell, and a home run from slugger, Jake Miller. On Monday afternoon the Warriors eliminated the Elizabethton Cyclones by the score of 3-2. As Elizabethton did all through the tournament, including their game against the Longhorns, they committed costly errors. The Cyclones made four errors on Monday, spoiling a quality start from Jake Davis. Ethan Fleenor pitched 6 1/3 innings on two days rest for Happy Valley. Unicoi County defeated the Sullivan East Patriots late Monday night by the score of 5-3, behind clutch pitching of D.W. Whitson and the hitting of Logan Rice. Happy Valley plays East today in an elimination game, as both teams have one loss in the tournament. Jake Hodge will take the ball for Happy Valley, also on two days rest. The winner of tonight's Warrior/Patriot game will earn a trip to the regional tournament, and will also have to beat the Blue Devils on Wednesday and Thursday night to win the district 1 AA championship. Tonight Happy Valley will be looking to earn their third straight trip to the regional tournament. Last season they were eliminated by Pigeon Forge by the score of 5-0, at Pigeon Forge. |
