Posted Feb 19/10 - Longhorn Baseball getting great leadership from Hayworth, Fenner, & Reece in the preseason
We have a veteran baseball club with eight senior players on the roster, but the leadership of three in the early going has been huge.  Second Baseman and Right Handed Pitcher, Zack Hayworth, First Baseman, Tyler Fenner, and Outfielder and Right Handed Pitcher, James Reece have stepped up day in and day out and showed leadership and a committment to the program.  Hayworth may not be as well known outside of Johnson County, but he is one of the best Second Baseman in the new Three Rivers Conference.  Fenner is entering his third year as starting First Baseman for Coach Pavusek's ball club and has always been very good defensively, but he is looking to take his game to another level offensively and looking to reach his full potential.  Reece may be one of the most improved players in the conference.  He has the ability to be a shut down number one pitcher if he can throw all of his pitches for strikes and stay ahead in the count.  As a successful season approaches, that will feature contributions from other seniors such as Eric Cullop, Cody Greer, and David Lunceford, not to mention players such as Austin Humphrey, Sammy Hampton, Sawyer Ward, and Danny Herman, we can look back on the leadership of three in the early going that really set the tone for the 2010 Longhorn Baseball season.

God bless,
Coach Perkins
