| Longhorn Baseball is excited about announcing that two home scrimmages have been added to the 2011 preseason schedule. The Greeneville Greene Devils will come to Johnson County on Monday, March 7th, with first pitch scheduled for 4:30. Greeneville plays in the Blue Ridge Athletic Conference in Class AA, District 2, Region 1. We, Johnson County, play in Region 1 also, but compete in District 1 (Three Rivers Conference) in Class AA ball. The Greene Devils won 19 games in 2010 (with 13 losses), and won the District 2 AA Tournament. They lost to the Unicoi County Blue Devils in the Regional Tournament final, but the Greene Devils did advance to Sectional play, as two teams from the region advance to Sectionals. We are excited about preparing our players for the conference season by scrimmaging a Good Greeneville ball club. On Thursday, March 10th, the North Greene Huskies will travel to Johnson County to scrimmage the Longhorns. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00. Former Chuckey Doak Head Baseball Coach, Tim Lady, has taken over the reigns at North Greene. Coach Lady won over 328 games in his coaching career at Chuckey Doak. The Huskies play in the Watauga Valley Conference, which is Class A, Region 1, and District 1. They are in the conference with our regular season opponents, Hampton Bulldogs and Cloudland Highlanders. These two scrimmages are in addition to our Tuesday, March 1st trip to play the Mitchell County Mountaineers and our Friday, March 11th trip to play the Holston Cavaliers. |
