The Lakers bashed out 14 hits on their way to a 9-3 victory over Brownton Tuesday night. The Lakers got on the board early as Jeremy Salden started the 2nd inning with a base hit followed by a Craig LaPlante double off the fence. Robbie Smothers and Jeff Chrest had back to back rbi singles to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead. The Lakers followed the 2nd inning with runs in four consecutive innings. Evan Buhr started for the Lakers going the first three, but took himself out of the game due to bilateral leg weakness. Ronnie Olson came in relief earning the win pitching 4 innings and allowing no runs. "We have some good and some bad memories from playing at Brownton (referring to the 2011 state tournmant) and we're thrilled to add this to the good," the Smothers brothers said at the same time. Of the 14 Laker hits Olson collected three and Salden, LaPlante and Chris Bullis got two of their own with Bullis adding 2 rbi to his team leading 18 rbi's. The Lakers have a showdown Sunday afternoon vs. the Winsted Wildcats to see who will receive the #1 seed in the north.
