| Kyle Zweber pitched a complete game, 2 hit shut out on Wednesday night against the RVL's Chanhassen Redbirds. It was a pitching duel deep into the 7th inning, at 0-0. In the top of the 8th it all started, Dan Schroeder led off with a single to left, Jim Schroeder followed up his little brother with a base hit up the middle. Yes they went back to back, not back to front, WHOOOPS. Doherty followed the base hits with a walk to load the bases. Goblirsch hit a ball off the plate that soared high to the shortstop, the infield single brought in Dan Schroeder and an errant throw up the line brought around Jim Schroeder right behind him. The wild throw put runners on 2nd and 3rd when All-Star 3rd basemen John Somrock came in and hit a laser to left center to bring in Doherty and Goblirsch. The Jays held their 4 run lead and that's all they needed as Zweber went the whole game, punching out 11 Redbirds and walking only one. The complete game shut out was the 4th he has thrown since joining the Jays in 09. The Jays will have a short break as they send off 3 all stars to compete on Friday night in Union Hill. Good luck to John Somrock, Dustin Olynyk, and Anthony Eicher (standing in for MIA Marshall Mullenbach). Jays resume action on Sunday at home, 6pm first pitch against Chaska. It will be a red out with prizes for fans wearing all red to support the look of the Jays. |
