- The Bast Family Story In 1918, Henry Bast was a true craftsman of hardwood floors. He traveled the country, offering his skill for hire. He later trained his son who passed the skill to his son and son-in-law, the founders of today's Bast Floors & Staircases. Founded in 1987, Bast is a family-owned and operated company that still upholds the tradition of expert craftsmanship. For over 20 years, the Bast name has been synonymous with quality hardwood floors. In the late 1990's, Bast began applying its expert skills to create custom staircases. And, in answer to the demand from builders and homeowners, Bast began offering natural stone and tile products with the same standard of quality and craftsmanship.Our showroom features hundreds of flooring samples, custom border work, inlays and elegant staircases.
