Whalley Junior Chiefs

Welcome to the website of the Whalley Junior Chiefs. We are the primary development team - or feeder team - for the Whalley Chiefs of the BC Premier Baseball League. The BCPBL is arguably the top high school age league in Canada, and regularly showcases the best young baseball talent in the country.Whalley has a glorious past of baseball talent and championships.

Each season the BCPBL sends many players to college and university programs both in Canada and the USA, with a select few being chosen in the annual Major League Baseball draft. The Chiefs are one of the longest running club teams in Canada and have a long history of graduating players into college and university programs, as well as professional baseball (click here for a list of Chiefs draft picks).

The Jr. Chiefs play in the BC Junior Premier League, a 16U wood bat league. We play a 44 game JPBleague schedule, plus an additional 15-20 exhibition and tournament games from March through mid August. Two Tournaments in Washington (Kent & Spokane)are planned for 2014.The emphasis of the junior program is to develop our players and prepare them to move up with the tools necessary to compete and succeed at the next level.

Players in our program are expected to be dedicated to bettering themselves both on and off the field. Hard work and hustle, playing the game with class and respect, physical fitness, off-season training and academic responsibility are all critical components of our program. Players at this level take the game seriously as most have post-secondary baseball aspirations and all want to test themselves against the best.Player costs will be competitive with all other JPBL organizations.

Posted Dec 30/14 - 2nd Session-Off Season Training

Whalley BC.....The Chiefs announce details for the 2nd session of off season strength and conditioning.Starting Feb.2 Monday and running through Saturday March 28( 8 weeks )The weekly workout schedule will be very similar to the 1st session.You will be assigned workout groups to keep numbers more manageable.Mondays are for core work, Tuesdays and Thursdays will be for hitting and throwing outside and Saturdays for pitchers and catchers.This is mandatory for all players.Cost is $199.00 payable to Whalley Chiefs Baseball.Questions can be directed to any of the Chiefs coaching staff.

Whalley BC...The Chiefs would like to announce details for a 10 week strength and conditioning program.Starting Monday Nov.10 and continuing 6 weeks ending Sat.December 20 and then continuing after the Christmas break on Monday January 5.2015 and run 4 weeks through Jan.31st.January 17-20 the Chiefs will be in Phoenix.The program will be at the Whalley Indoor Facility located at Whalley Ball Park.All boys aspiring to make the Jr Whalley Chiefs program are encouraged to register.A typical week will start Mondays at 5:30pm and run through 9:30pm.Boys will be divided into manageable groups for 1 hour each with Gord Kerr, our strength and conditioning coach.Tuesdays will be at the cage from 5:30pm to 9:30pm and be concentrated on hitting with Cole Armstrong/Graig Merritt and staff.Video and swing analysis will be recorded and reviewed by the staff.Wednesdays are off days.Thursdays back at Whalley from 5:30pm to 9:30pm and working again on swing and hitting.Fridays are off days.Saturdays are in the cage or outside weather permitting working on throwing and pitching.Drew Parker will work with pitchers.Catcher's will have specific times also on Saturday with Ernie Hawkins, Cole Armstrong and Craig Merritt.Sundays TBD.The cost is $499 which includes rental of the facility,a workout T shirt, Chiefs shorts & toque and a Chiefs Majestic Hoodie.All instrcuction is by qualified Chiefs staff.Any questions can be directed to GM Paul Hargreaves or any Chiefs staff.
