Posted Dec 11/13 - Off Season Training-2nd Half

Surrey...The Chiefs would like to announce details for the 2nd half of off season strength and conditioning and hitting and throwing instruction.Starting Mon Jan 6 and running 9 weeks to Sat March 8.All boys aged 13-18 are welcome and strongly encouraged if they are trying out for either of the Chiefs PBL teams.A typical week is as follows...Sundays will be an outside track day running at Holy Cross HS from 10 to 11am.Mondays will be a core training day with trainer Gord Kerr from 6 to 9pm at Whalley.You will be put into smaller workout groups.Tuesdays will be for hitting from 6 to 9pm at Whalley.Video and swing analysis will be taken.Wednesdays are off.Thursdays will be for hitting and long tossing from 6 to 9pm at the cage.Fridays are off.Saturdays will be for catchers,pitchers and hitters.Starting at 9am to 10am catchers will work with Ernie Hawkins and Ryan Pilgrim.Pitchers will start at 10 to 11:30am and hitters will finish from 11:30 to 1pm.Thats's 13 hours of cage instruction from the Chiefs staff.Cost will be $289 payable to Chiefs Baseball.As part of the registration fee, each player will get a Chiefs majestic hooded sweatshirt.Any questions can be directed to any of the Chiefs coaching staff.

Posted Nov 21/13 - Armstrong Joins Chiefs Staff

Phoenix,Az....The Whalley Chiefs would like to announce that Cole Armstrong, Chiefs alumni '02 has joined the coaching staff effective January 2014.Cole brings many years of college and pro ball experience to the staff.Cole was drafted in '01 by the Mets (didn't sign)and '02 by the Braves.Cole played at Chipola JC in Marianna Fla before signed a pro contract.Played for the Braves, White Sox,Angels and Marlins organizations.He played for Canada's JNT and Canada's Pan Am Gold medal winning team.His pro line is found on the following link:

We are happy to say the least that Cole wants to come back and continue coaching in the PBL.

Posted Nov 10/13 - Chiefs Enter MLK Tourney in Phoenix

Whalley BC...The Chiefs have entered the Martin Luther King WoodBat Tournament in Phoenix Jan.17-20.2014 in N.Phoenix.The opportunity is for the U16 player invited by the Chiefs staff, up to 15 in total ,predominantly 10th graders and then if necessary, other U16 players will be supplemented from other organizations.The idea here is to create opportunities for players to compete against other solid US competition and get motivated and do it in the most economically efficient manner.An invitation will be forthcoming as an e mail to those selected by the staff.Details of the trip with specifics will be in the e mail.Any questions can be directed to John Parker.

Posted Nov 3/13 - NHL Hockey Loser Pool Fundraiser

Surrey....Chiefs have decided to run a NHL Hockey Pool Fundraiser.Details will be e mailed to families and also handed out at off season workouts.Handout sheets will be given to players during the week of Nov.4.The pool starts Nov.23.All participating families are asked to sign up at least 5 names.The top seller will have a choice of a 32 or 33 inch Brett WoodBat.

October 24....The Chiefs would like to announce the details for the 8 week strength and conditioning program.Starting Sat.Oct.26 and running 8 consecutive weeks through Sat.Dec.21.This program will be supplemented in the 2nd half starting in the new year.Boys aged from 13 to 18 are welcome to work out.We encourage boys aspiring to make the Chiefs PBL or JPBL teams to participate.All instruction will be from Chiefs staff.A typical week will be as follows..Sundays will be a workout outside day at the oval, being Holy Cross HS Track.The time will be from 9am to 10am.Be prepared to run with proper footwear.Mondays will be a core training and strength & conditioning day.This will be held at the Whalley cage from 6:00 to 9:00pm and at Gord Kerr's home gym when required.This will begin Nov.18.and will be in groups depending on numbers.You will be notified for your time to work out.Tuesdays will be in the Whalley cage from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and will concentrate on hitting.Video and swing analysis will be taken.Wednesdays are off days.Thursdays will be back in the Whalley facility again from 6:00pm to 9:00pm working on hitting.Fridays are off.Saturdays are in the Whalley cage from 9:30am to 1:00pm.Catcher's will be instructed by Ernie Hawkins and Ryan Pilgrim and pitchers will throw and work on mechanics from 9:30am to 10:30am.The balance of the time will be for long tossing and hitting.Cost is $229 payable to Chiefs Baseball.That will include a Chiefs work out T, mesh shorts and a toque, all available Nov.2.Any questions can be directed to any member of the Chiefs staff.Hope to see you out.

Whalley....Congratulations to the U30 Chiefs for capturing the LMBA final Friday night under the lights with a 2-1 win over Richmond.PBL Chiefs alumni playing include Chris Zayonce, Andy Myette, Pete Decker, Danny Paulson , Brock Greaves, Jordan Kissock who got the W, Coaches Justin Bye and Ben  Gasiorowski.

Richmond BC...Congratulations to Chiefs alumnus Ryan Pidhaichuk '11 for signing at the University of Kansas.The Jayhawks play in the prestigious Big 12 Conference.Ryan graduated from the Chiefs in 2011 and went on to play 2 seasons at the Prairie Baseball Acedemy (PBA)in Lethbridge,AB.He is playing summer ball for the Lethbridge Bullsthis summer.Ryan is the 2nd Chief to play at Kansas.Cole Armstrong '02 played for the Jayhawks as well.Ryan has been invited to play summer ball in the prestigious Northwoods League in the 2014 season.See website:
Posted Aug 23/13 - Chiefs Fall Ball 2013
Updated...The Chiefs announce details for Fall Ball 2013 at Whalley Ball Park and Indoor Training Facility.Open to boys aged 13 to 17 and who live in the Chiefs boundaries.Opening night is Sept.3 at 6:00pm and will conclude in mid October weather permitting.The format will be 3 nights a week, Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday practices and inter squad games starting at 6pm and going to app. 9:00pm.Weekends will be for home and away games with PBL teams and Washington teams.Instruction will be from all 8 of the Chiefs qualified staff.Cost is $219.00 which will include a game top and hat.The Sr Team will play in a tournament at N.Shore on Sept.28-9.Questions can be directed to Paul Hargreaves or any of the Chiefs staff.Click here for registration details...

Surrey Leader...July 2, 2013.

Sunday afternoon at Whalley Ball Park, friends and team mates of Yuta Kikuzaki said goodbye and thanks for all the good memories.He was sad to leave Whalley and Canada but was destined to return to his native Japan for post secondary education.

old All Star Team on Sunday June 23 prior to their DH with the Nanaimo Pirates.Come out and give them

some support.

Posted Mar 24/13 - Phoenix Spring Break Trip

The Chiefs return home after a successful week in Phoenix.The schedule consisted of 8 exhibition games and 2 practices.The facilities were great and they got loads of reps on dry and hot facilities.Pitching held up nicely after a winter in the cages.Hitting showed lots of good swings.

Off days the boys enjoyed some MLB spring training games, an NBA basketball game and the NHL Coyotes playing Vancouver.

Baseball BC High Performance Seminar

Baseball BC in conjunction with the 7 inning stretch group is very pleased to announce the return of the High Performance Athletes Seminar.

This event is scheduled for Saturday February 9th from 8:30 to 5:00 at the Sheraton Vancouver Guildford Hotel in Surrey.

Speakers will touch on topics such as nutrition, strength and conditioning, life lesson development and high performance opportunities.
