Stars 6 Legends 4
Posted May 31, 2014
Stars continued their winning ways today and are now
undefeated for the month of May. Even Edwin Encarnacion is jealous. The Stars
defeated the Legends from White Rock 6-4 once again relying on stellar
pitching from RickR and Doug “The guy with the English dentist” Simpson. D was
not as great as usual today, but enough to get the job done. A-Rob kept anything
hit to center from getting grass stains, but will be taking first trip to the
drycleaners in a while. Tup made key play fielding ground ball deep in the hole
and getting the lead runner out at third to put a big dent in a 9th
inning rally by the Legends. Doug “How old is that guy?” Simpson helped his own
cause coming off the mound twice to field balls in front of home and making
great throws to IB to nip the runners. Third base was the place to be today
with nine balls hit to the hot corner. Mike-O made great play on dribbler
behind mound and later nearly made a kick save on a hot smash. Big Lar pulled a
hammy while airmailing a throw to 1B proving just how hard it is to play third.
The game really turned on offense. After getting 2 runs on 4 hits in the first
inning, the Stars manufactured 4 more runs the rest of the way on only 5 more
hits taking advantage of some Legend miscues and speed on the basepaths. Big
Lefty broke out of slump going 2 for 3 and making a strong case to get to play
short. I-Kato’s sharp eye avoided a near disaster when Mike-O tried to
impersonate A-Rob; or was it the other way around? Hard to tell. Tupperware
Player of the Game goes to Mike-O: 3 for 4 including a stand up triple, and
scoring 3 runs.
