Baseball Manitoba 2021 Return to Play Update:

After reviewing the Manitoba Health’s newest Public Health Orders, which take effect April 28, Baseball Manitoba has amended Version 2 of our Return to Play plan. Further to our Return to Play Version 2 Updates, Baseball Manitoba has made the following changes to the plan:

Facility Capacity Limits (Participants and Spectators)

Remove: Outdoor training must be conducted in groups of 50 or less participants and 10 or less spectators, to a maximum of 50 percent facility capacity, or in compliance with current Health Orders.

Add: Outdoor training must be conducted in groups of 50 or less participants, to a maximum of 50 percent of the facility capacity, or in compliance with current Health Orders. This includes players, coaches and Health and Safety Coordinators.

Add: Only one parent or caregiver for each minor participating in a sporting activity at an outdoor sporting facility may watch the sporting activity and all spectators must maintain a separation of at least two metres from each other.

The 2021 Baseball Manitoba Return to Play Version 2 document (amended April 28) is available on our website. Baseball remains in Phase 1 – Training of our plan. Phase 2 – Competition continues to be set to begin on May 8. As such, we are prepared to release Version 3 of our plan before that date. The current Manitoba Public Health Orders are set to expire May 25, or sooner, and Baseball Manitoba is prepared to release new information at that time.

We want to stress the importance of our members following the Health Orders and our plan. Health and Safety Coordinators need support and encouragement from everyone as they work to keep our game on the field. We understand that limiting spectators is challenging and hard for parents but following these rules will help keep people safe and the kids on the field.

Here are some reminders:

  • Stay home if you are not feeling well
  • Have your Health and Safety Coordinators present and active
  • Limit spectators (1 per player)
  • Always maintain physical distance (2m or 6 ft)
  • Sanitize equipment after each use
  • Wear a mask when required
  • Sanitize hands regularly

As always, the health and safety of people in sport, including players, coaches, umpires, spectators, volunteers, and the public, is of the utmost importance to Baseball Manitoba. We are excited to see baseball training resume and will work diligently to keep it a fun, safe environment for our members and the public.

Sincerely,

Jason Miller – Executive Director
