THE EXTREME ARE SOUTH DAKOTA 12 AND UNDER STATE CHAMPS
The Extreme came into the State tournament slight underdogs to their biggest foes Daly Construction and the mighty Heat. Both teams have given the Extreme fits in the past, but the Extreme put in a little extra work during the week before the tournament.

Friday the Extreme started the tournament off with a huge win over a scrappy Rapid City Thunder Boltz team. The Boltz scrapped for a couple of innings but the extra work began to pay off and the Extreme ended the thunderstorm with a 15-4 victory. The Extreme seem to have huge targets on their backs and always bring out the best in their opponents. This rang true again when the Extreme played a fired up Xplosion team. The game looked like it would be another Extreme blow out but the feisty Xplosion team battled back only to come up short 6-4

Saturday again saw the Extreme with targets on their backs while they played the Brandon Ice. The Ice kept it close until the Extreme decided to turn up the temperatures melting the Ice 19-7. The win set up another meeting between the Extreme and the Heat.
Later that afternoon the two powers met with the Extreme getting off to a thunderous start. Jamel from the Extreme team got the game going with a mighty lead off home run. That single hit seemed to fire up the Extreme and they carried it through the entire game scoring 7 runs on the Heats tough defense. The Heat did manage to make a game of it late but came up short losing the battle 7-5.

Sunday afternoon, with blazing temps, the mighty Heat was fired up and looking for revenge. They jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, but would not manage another run the rest of the game. The Extreme however got out of the starting gate very slow as the two teams put forth a great defensive battle. The Extreme began leaving runs stranded on the bases in the third, fourth, and fifth inning managing only 2 runs while leaving 7 stranded. The Heat showed why they are a great team holding off the Extreme’s charge winning 4-2

In the final meeting of the year the Heat jumped out again to a 1-0 lead in the second. The Extreme however fired back in the third blowing up for four runs bringing the game to a 4-1 Extreme lead. The Heat would manage another run in the 4th but the Extreme would turn down the Heats run. After 6 tough innings the Extreme went into the 7th with a 4-2 lead and three outs away from the state title. You could see it in the Extreme girls eyes as they knew what they had to do. The first batter smacked a line drive that was a sure base hit until Tyler stretched to her height limit, snagging it for the first out. Out number two came when Jamel scooped up a routine grounder and tossing it to Cylie at first. After a coaches timeout to refocus the Extreme girls, Dani sent the final pitch the Heat batter. The ball dribbling in front of home plate looked like trouble until Jenna scooped it up and fired it to first for the final out handing the Extreme the State Title.

After a long weekend of great ball the Extreme players and coaches would love to thank the parents and fans who braved the high temps only to cheer us to victory. Our fans were definitely the loudest at the complex and were instrumental in firing up the Extreme girls on and off the field. THANK YOU ALL!!!!!
