CANNON VALLEY LEAGUE ADDS A NEW TEAM
Inver Grove Heights Diamond Kings Are Newest Addition To League
The Cannon Valley League is growing in 2009 with the addition of a new team to the league. Inver Grove Heights will join the CVL this season as the Diamond Kings. One of the new members of the team will be former 2008 Lakeville Athletic, Jon Wulff, who is from the Inver Grove Heights area. His father, Bill Wulff, will be General Manager of the new club as well as the CVL Secretary/Treasurer. The Diamond Kings head coach will be Steve Lashomb.
Lakeville’s head coach Doug Johnson has been named as the new president for the Cannon Valley League. Johnson succeeds CVL past President Dudley Olson from Eagan. Johnson was named at the January 18th league meeting in a vote amongst league representatives. Johnson will serve a one year term with the option to renew for a second.
Apple Valley Millers head coach and CVL Vice President Josh Wigley will serve as the Minnesota Amateur Baseball Section 5B Commissioner.
The Elko Express will join Section 5B in the playoffs this year. The Express were the Minnesota Amateur Baseball State Champions last year in Class C and have been moved to Class B for the 2009 playoffs. The Express will remain in the Dakota, Rice, Scott League this year and will also play each of the Cannon Valley League teams twice during the regular season. The CVL teams play each other three times in the regular season. Two teams from Section 5, Class B will qualify for the Minnesota Amateur Baseball 2009 State Tournament. The State Tournament will begin August 20 at Gaylord and Arlington.
