Athletics Earn Two Wins Over Weekend
The A's kicked of the weekend with a bang Friday night, earning a 13-1 victory over the Mountain Lake Lakers.  Dru Strand went all 7 innings while only giving up one unearned run.  Strand gave up 5 hits while striking out 4.  Cody Kontz, Glen Kruger, Jason Stubbe, and Gador all had 2 hits for the A's.  While Jeff Gacke, Josh Wasmund, Joe Kruger, and Justin Wolf all collected one hit apiece.
On a hot and humid Sunday afternoon, the A's traveled to Hadley to take on the Buttermakers.  The A's bats were hotter than the 94 degree weather as they mashed 15 hits to cruise to a 7-5 victory.  Jeff Gacke led the charge as he went 4 for 5 with a home run.  Zach Dingmann added 3 hits and was only a home run short of the cycle.  Dingmann also earned the victory on the mound going 5 innings.  Tyler Hornstein came in and shut the Buttermakers down for 3.1 innings.  Then Gacke came in and closed the door on the Buttermakers to earn the save.  
The A's will be back in action Wednesday night as Luverne comes into town for a 7:30 game.  

A's Vs. Jackson Start Time
The A's and the Jackson Bulls have pushed back the start time of the game on Sunday from 2:00 to 6:30. The game will take place in Jackson at Ty Wacker Field.
A's Win in Sioux Falls
The A's waited out a a 1.5 hour rain delay, then beat the Sioux Falls Saints 5-2 in a seven inning affair.  Matt Gades pitched well on the mound to earn his first win of the season.  Brett Jackson came in and got the save.  
Gades threw four innings of one hit ball while striking out seven and allowing one run.  Jackson came in and threw the final three innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one. 
The A's trailed 1-0 in the top of the fifth, before breaking out and scoring four runs in the inning. Adrian added one in the seventh to hold on to a 5-2 win.  Jason Stubbe led the team at the plate going 2-3 with an RBI.  Glen Kruger was 1-3 and scored a run. Levi Bullerman added a hit with an RBI and Joe Kruger contributed with one hit and two runs scored.  
The A's (2-0) travel to Jackson on Sunday to take on the Bulls. GO A'S!
A's Win Season Opener
The A's rode solid pitching from Jason Stubbe along with hot hitting from Cody Kontz to a 9-6 season opening win over the Heron Lake Lakers.  Adrian jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two innings of the ball game in Adrian.  The A's added another run in the fourth, two in the sixth, and one in the seventh.  Heron Lake got on the board by scoring one run in the fifth and finished their scoring in the seventh with five runs. 
Stubbe earned the win on the mound by throwing five innings, allowing one run on five hits.  Kontz threw the next two innings.  And Jeff Gacke got the save by pitching the eighth and ninth, allowing no runs while striking out four.  
The A's were led at the plate by Kontz, who went 3-4 with three doubles.  He scored three runs and had two RBI.  Levi Bullerman also had three hits with one double.  He scored once and drove in a team high three runs. Gacke went 2-5 with a run scored to go with one RBI.  Joe Kruger was 2-4 with two RBI.  Glen Kruger, Stubbe, and Matt Gades rounded out the hitting with a hit apiece. 
The A's (1-0) travel to Sioux Falls on Wednesday to take on the Saints at Harmadon Park.  The game has a start time of 7:30.  GO A'S
A's J. Kontz and Gacke Playing College Baseball This Spring
A's catcher and pitcher Jordan Kontz has been named as the 'Newcomer to Watch' by the  "Collegiate Baseball News Central Region." Kontz will be entering his redshirt freshman season for the SMSU (Marshall) baseball in team this spring.  
Jeff Gacke is another A that will compete in Intercollegiate baseball this spring. Gacke is a sophmore pitcher for the Mornigside Mustangs in Sioux City, IA.
