Posted Dec 22/13 - Twisters Rally in the 3rd to beat Riels

FIRST PERIOD

Twisters score first goal by Corey Mazinke with assists coming from Jeff Bartel and Christian Savard at 3:42.

 

Riels even the score at 1-1 on the power play at 6:38 when Glen Young scored a nice goal on a 3-way passing play from Brian Michiels and Michael Gorrie.

Riels took the lead at 14:28 when Brian Michiels tallied his 15th of the season with assists coming from Michael Gorrie and Glen Young.

Twisters tied it at 2-2, twenty-two seconds later when Matt Mazinke scored from Colin Grenier and Brody Chabbert.  That ended the period dead locked at 2-2.  Twisters out shot Riels 12-11.

 

SECOND PERIOD

Twisters Christian Savard scored at 7:56 with helpers coming from Matt Mazinke and Corey Mazinke.

Riels evened it up at 3-3 at 11:41 on the power play when Brian Michiels scored his second of the night and 16th of the season with helpers coming from Ryan Wilgosh and Sean Christensen that ended the second period 3-3.  Riels out shot the Twisters 8-5.

 

THIRD PERIOD

Twisters Brett Seymour scored at 5:19 of the 3rd with assists coming from Paul Remillard and Jamie Van Der Linde.  Riels hard work of Chris Prejet, Skyler Eastman and Brad Kutzak paid off when Chris Prejet scored a nice goal to tie it up 4-4 with assists coming from Skyler Eastman and Ryan Wilgosh.

Twisters kept coming all night winning the battles in the neutral zone and deep in Riels territory.  Twisters scored 20 seconds later after the Riels worked hard to even the match.  That happened 2-3 times tonight.  That was the back breaker at 6:52 when Matt Mazinke scored his second of the night with an assist coming from Christian Savard. Then Mitch Chanel scored to put the game away at 9:40 with assists coming from Savard and Siemens.  That made it 6-4 Twisters.  The Riels net minder Kyle Vandemosselaer had a tough night letting in 6 goals on 26 shots.  Paul Remillard scored into an empty net at 19:14 to make it a final 7-4 Twisters.  Twisters were a better team tonight.
