Dan Covert's effort not enough in Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion's 12-4 loss.

 

Not even a strong hitting and pitching performance from Dan Covert could carry Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion past Aynor Post 81 at Aynor HS on Friday as Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion suffered a 12-4 defeat.

Dan got on base three times in the game for Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion. He singled in the third and fifth innings.

Dan pitched lights out for Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion. Dan held Aynor Post 81 hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.

Jackson Woodle got the win for Aynor Post 81. He pitched one-third shutout innings. Jackson struck out none, walked none and gave up no hits.

Jackson, Nathan Pepples, Quin Prosser and Dylan Bagnel helped lead Aynor Post 81. They combined for eight hits and eight RBIs.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Aynor Post 81 stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring five runs on a home run by Dylan and an RBI single by Jackson.

One run in the top of the fifth helped Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion close its deficit to 9-4. An RBI single by Jon Yarbrough triggered Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion's comeback. The Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion threat came to an end when Dylan finally got Chase Blackmon to.

Post 178 could only manage 2 hits as Socastee Jr. Legion still fell to Conway 7-3 in seven innings on Thursday at Conway HS.

Jay Bargoil got the win for Conway. He allowed three runs over seven innings. Jay struck out two, walked two and gave up two hits.

The bottom of the first saw Conway take an early lead, 1-0.

It didn't take long for Conway to answer as it scored one run of its own in the second. Conway scored on an error.

The lead stayed with Conway after the third, when it scored three runs on a groundout by Matt Rabon and two singles.

One run in the top of the fourth helped Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion close its deficit to 5-3. An error gave Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion life. Finally, Jay got Dan Covert to ground out to end the threat.

Conway answered Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion's top inning with one run of its own in the fourth. Conway scored on a wild pitch.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion continued to pile up the runs on Tuesday, scoring seven runs in the seventh inning, en route to an easy 16-2 win over Waccamaw at WHS.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion scored seven runs in the seventh on a two-run double by Sam McKinney, an RBI double by Jon Yarbrough, a walk by Matt Hussenater, a walk by Peter Federovitch, and a two-run double by Liam Stinger.

 

Sam racked up four RBIs on two hits for Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion.

 

Hayes Talley got the win for Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion. He pitched four shutout innings. He struck out two, walked six and surrendered two hits.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Jon and an RBI single by Ryan Beale.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion increased its lead with six runs in the fourth. The inning looked promising, as Sam doubled, bringing home Dan Covert to kick things off.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion built an early edge on Monday, but Georgetown roared back to steal a 7-3 victory at Mike Johnson Field.

Georgetown took the lead in the fifth inning on a two-run error.

 

Jon Yarbrough had two extra-base hits for Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion. He doubled in the first and third innings.

 

Alex Hughes got the win in relief for Georgetown. Alex pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed no runs.

The top of the second saw Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion take an early lead, 2-0. Justin Farria singled to ignite Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion's offense. Peter Federovitch singled, bringing home Hayes Talley.

Georgetown brought home two runs in the fourth inning, and matched that run total in the sixth. In the fourth, Georgetown scored on an RBI single by Tyler McCalister, scoring Brandon Cribb.

The game's last lead went to Georgetown thanks to a fifth inning rally that saw three runs cross the plate on two errors.

Georgetown tacked on another two runs in the sixth. A hit into a fielder's choice to get Georgetown on the board in the inning.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion lost 9-4 in 10 innings to Georgetown on Monday at SHS.

 

Justin Farria had a hot bat for Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion. Justin Farria went 3-5 and scored one run. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the second and ninth innings.

 

Ryan Williams got the win for Georgetown. He allowed four runs over 10 innings. Ryan Williams struck out 12, walked six and gave up 10 hits.

Georgetown was sparked by Ryan Williams and Ryan Holcomb, who teamed up for five hits and five RBIs.

The bottom of the second saw Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion take an early lead, 3-0. Matt Hussenater singled, bringing home Jon Yarbrough after a double by Jon got things started. Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion pushed more runs across when Blackmon scored on a walk by Dan Covert and Farria scored on an RBI single by Sam McKinney.

Georgetown scored two runs in the third inning, and then followed it up with two more in the sixth. In the third, Georgetown scored on an error, scoring C Thompson.

Georgetown stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the tenth, scoring five runs on a three-run double by Ryan Holcomb, a groundout by Corey Ward, and a hit by pitch.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion falls to Murrells Inlet 10-6 in spite of Hayes Talley's performance

Hayes Talley went 2-3, but Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion still fell to Murrells Inlet 10-6 in seven innings on Monday at SHS.

Two of Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion's runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Hayes. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

 

Justin Farria brought the heat against Murrells Inlet during his outing. Justin Farria held Murrells Inlet hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.

 

Ty King got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over two innings. Ty struck out two, walked one and gave up four hits.

Murrells Inlet was sparked by Zach Sanders and Harrison VanLandingham, who teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.

The top of the first saw Murrells Inlet take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Zach, scoring Nick DelBianco started the inning off.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion quickly matched Murrells Inlet's strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the first. Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion scored on an RBI single by Jon Yarbrough.

Murrells Inlet went up for good in the third, scoring three runs on a fielder's choice and a two-run single by Jacob Zeigler.

Murrells Inlet added five more runs in the top of the fourth. A error scored Nick DelBianco and Robert Gilhuly for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Harrison VanLandingham's three-run home run, scoring Zach and Drake Martin.

Two Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion runs crossed the plate in the bottom half of the sixth, making the score 10-4. A two-run error gave Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion life. Finally, Nick DelBianco got Ryan Beale to ground out to end the threat.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion lost 4-3 in seven innings at St. James HS on Tuesday, despite outhitting Murrells Inlet seven to six.

 

Hayes Talley had two extra-base hits for Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion. He doubled in the fifth and seventh innings.

 

Jacob Zeigler got the win for Murrells Inlet. He allowed two runs over six innings. Jacob Zeigler struck out one, walked eight and gave up five hits.

Murrells Inlet didn't relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the second inning when it scored on a sacrifice fly by Ty King and an RBI single by Jacob Zeigler.

A three-run seventh inning helped bring Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion within one. A sacrifice fly by Jon Yarbrough, an RBI single by Ryan Beale, and an error triggered Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion's comeback. But, Ty got Skylar Salem to strike out to end the game.

       
                     

Hayes Talley's big day not enough, as Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion loses 10-4 to Conway

Despite Hayes Talley's 3-3 performance at the plate on Thursday, Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion took a 10-4 loss at the hands of Conway at SHS.

Mason Maybry got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings. Maybry struck out three, walked one and gave up eight hits.

Conway was sparked by Trystan Causey and Colby Ard, who teamed up for six hits and five RBIs.

Conway never trailed after scoring two runs in the first on a two-run error.

Two runs in the bottom of the fifth helped Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion close its deficit to 10-2. A two-run double by Talley gave Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion life. Finally, Daniel Faircloth induced an inning-ending fly out from Chase Blackmon.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the seventh, Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion faced just a 10-4 deficit. A walk by Liam Stinger and a fielder's choice fueled Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion's comeback.

A home run by Cameron Schildt gave Carolina Forrest the lead in the eighth inning.

 

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion was led by Sam McKinney's hitting. McKinney went 3-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first, third, and fourth innings.

 

 

Jon Yarbrough baffled Carolina Forrest, striking out seven batters. Yarbrough allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks over six innings.

 

Christian Marin got the win in relief for Carolina Forrest. Marin pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed no runs.

The top of the first saw Carolina Forrest take an early lead, 1-0.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion answered Carolina Forrest's top inning with one run of its own in the first. Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion scored on an RBI single by Ryan Beale.

Ryan Beale collected three hits, sparking Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion to an 8-5 victory in seven innings over Waccamaw on Tuesday at SHS.

He doubled in the second inning and singled in the first and fifth innings.

 

Justin Farria shut down Waccamaw while he was on the mound. Farria held Waccamaw hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.

The lead stayed with Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion after the first, when it scored two runs on an RBI single by Austin Bridges and a walk by Jon Yarbrough.

One run in the top of the second helped Waccamaw close its deficit to 2-1. An error triggered Waccamaw's comeback. Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion stopped the rally after Dowd got Justin Busby to strike out.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion quickly matched Waccamaw's strong inning with a four-run inning of its own in the second. Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion scored on an RBI single by Dan Covert, an RBI single by Yarbrough, and a two-run double by Beale.

Two runs in the top of the fifth helped Waccamaw close its deficit to 6-5. A groundout by Brian Okum and a sacrifice fly by Overly fueled Waccamaw's comeback. Forrest Powell struck out to end the Waccamaw threat.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion matched its one-run fifth inning with one more in the sixth. In the fifth, Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion scored on an error, plating Skylar Salem.

Johnsonville out-hit Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion six to four, but Johnsonville stranded seven runners on base.

 

Justin Dowd racked up two RBIs on two hits for Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion. He singled in the fourth and fifth innings.

 

Sam McKinney got the win for Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion. He tossed one inning of shutout ball. McKinney struck out none, walked two and gave up no hits.

The top of the first saw Johnsonville take an early lead, 1-0. Lee Daniel singled to ignite Johnsonville's offense. An error then moved Daniel from first to second. Drew Altman singled, scoring Daniel.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion lost 3-1 in seven innings at CFHS on Thursday, despite outhitting Carolina Forrest five to three.

 

Sam McKinney was in control on the hill. Carolina Forrest managed just one hit off of McKinney, who allowed one earned run, walked four and struck out two during his five innings of work.

 

Orlando Patrick got the win for Carolina Forrest. He allowed one run over seven innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered five hits.

The second inning saw Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion score its only run on the day on an RBI single by Taylor Karnap.

Carolina Forrest tied the game in the third on an RBI single by Jakob Frishmuth that scored Christian Richardson.

The lead stayed with Carolina Forrest after the fourth, when it scored one run on a groundout by Andrew Brong.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion and Aynor volleyed the lead five times on Tuesday, but Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion came out on top for a 6-5 win on Tuesday at SHS.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion pulled out the win thanks to a strong fifth inning. And gave Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion the lead for good.

Socastee Post 178 Jr. Legion would not relinquish the lead as Aynor was unable to weather a four-run sixth inning deficit.

Aynor scored three runs in the seventh on two singles. Still, Aynor couldn't draw even.
