At the Three Rivers Conference varsity baseball coaches meeting in October we agreed to a JV tournament for the dates of April 27th, 28th, and 29th.  It was to be a three day, single elimination tournament.  The official tournament bracket had a double elimination tournament extending through Tuesday, May 3rd, so it was nothing like the orignal tournament proposal.  Many of our JV players are also on the Varsity roster.  We cannot compromise our Varsity schedule because of JV games, because obviously Varsity takes top priority.  We say that because our Varsity club hosts the University High Jr. Bucs in a doubleheader on Friday, April 29th.  Due to the JV Longhorns losing to the Sullivan East Patriots, (statistics and details coming on Friday) they are scheduled to play the Happy Valley Warriors in the tournament on Friday.  It would be the fourth time we have played Happy Valley's JV club in 2011.  If the JV Longhorns would beat the Warriors on Friday they would play Saturday in the tournament, but a JV Longhorn home doubleheader is already scheduled for Saturday vs. the Unaka Rangers.  Our Varsity club also has Three Rivers Conference games on Monday and Tuesday and our JV players who are on the Varsity roster would not be able to leave the Varsity club to play JV if the JV Horns advanced that far in the JV tournament.  We say all of that to say that we are going to respectfully bow out of the JV tourney.  We entered it under a misunderstanding and we do not want to jeopardize our Varsity club on Friday by having some Varsity players leave to play JV ball, or cancel our home doubleheader on Sat., and again, we would have to exit the tournament if we did make it to play on Monday, because we need a full Varsity roster for conference play.  We do apologize for the confusion.
