Posted Mar 23/12 - Beavers Drop Contest Against Montesano
Coming off a win in the opener against Ridgefield, the Beavers faced a tough challenge in Montesano tonight, dropping the road contest 5-3.  The Bulldogs, a certain top ten team in the state of Washington for 1A, were coming off of a 27-1 drubbing of league foe Onalaska on Wednesday.  They didn't have the same offensive outburst against the Beavers tonight as pitchers Hunter Huddleston and Troy Wasson combined to slow down Montesano, allowing just five runs (two earned) on nine hits for the game.  Most importantly, the duo walked none and hit just one batter.

Offensively, the Beavers struck early when Colton Lucas doubled home Tanner Huddleston and Bryce McQuivey- who had both walked earlier in the inning- to put the Beavs up 2-0 after a the top of the first. After Montesano clawed back to take the lead 3-2, McQuivey tied the game up with an RBI double of his own that scored Cy Whitmire, who had been previously hit by a pitch.  Montesano responded again, however, with single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take the lead for good.

With the loss, the Beavers drop to 1-1 on the season, while Montesano improves to 4-0.  The Beavers next travel to Elma to face the Eagles Saturday, March 24th, at noon.
