Capital City vs Auburn Lions
In the first game of bracket play Capital City started out strong going up 3-0 on a Cyrus Mooney 2-RBI single. The wheels fell off in the top of the second with six walks and four runs given up to go down 4-3 heading to the bottom half of the inning. Capital City went back ahead in the bottom of the inning 6-4. It only got worse from there for the Lions; Capital City found the bats scoring six more in the third and three more in the fourth on a Jordan Barchus base clearing double. Great relief pitching from Connor Suing gave Capital City the semi-final 10 run rule win 15-5.
Capital City vs Capital City Halos
In the rematch in the Championship Game the game started out with the Halos on top 1-0 on a throwing error in the top of the third. Capital City came back and took the lead 2-1 in the bottom half of third on a Cyrus Mooney 2-RBI single. A leadoff double in the top of the next inning and back to back hits gave the Halos the lead 4-2 after the fourth. Ben DeSaulnier came in and didn’t allow one hit for the rest of the game; but that wasn’t enough as Capital City could only muster up one more run as Connor Goff scored Mooney on an RBI-single in the fifth. The game ended with Goff on second base representing the tying run. Although the tournament finished on a disappointing note for the Black Sox it was a great weekend and plenty of progress was made. Capital City plays up in Lake Oswego Saturday May 1st and down In Albany on May 2nd. |
