Posted Dec 4/13 - Black Sox go 4-0 in Pool Play; Grab Bye Heading in to Sunday!

The Sox came out on a mission in the sun on Saturday; facing the 2-0 Las Vegas Ducks in a big pool play match-up that would decide one of the top two seeds in bracket play. The game didn’t last long, as the Black Sox scored 14 runs (12 of them earned) in the first two innings. Roger Ingram Jr. made sure the Ducks were never in the game; pitching three innings, giving up one hit, and no runs. Cap City got multiple hit games from Evan Haberle (2-3, 3B, 3 RBI’s), Jack Bauer (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI’s), Garrett Myers (2-2, 2 RBI’s), Hunter Spriggs (2-2, 2 RBI’s), and Jordan Barchus (2-2, 2B, RBI). The 15-0 win pushed the Sox to 3-0 in pool play, and put them in a great position going into the 4th game of the weekend.

The fourth and final game of pool play was an early battle, with Capital City pulling away in the end. The Black Sox used their speed to their advantage again, stealing 13 bases in the game (Myers 2, Haberle 2, Palmquist 2, Ingram Jr. 3, Bauer 3, Martin). They also got extra base hits from Jared Bell, Jesse Hilyard, and Spriggs to put them in control for good. After the 12-3 win, Capital City remained the only undefeated team in the tournament, and grabbed the coveted one seed moving into bracket play Sunday.
