Posted Nov 5/13 - Black Sox Split Double Header with Showtime; Look Forward to Winter Season...

Capital City split a double header with Showtime College Prep on Sunday at Oregon State University.

In the first game Harrison Reece and Jesse Hilyard led the Sox on the mound; giving up a combined five hits, and no earned runs over seven innings of work. The three runs scored in the first inning were more than enough for Cap City as they closed the game out 5-1. Jack Bauer led the offense with two hits, and an RBI.

The second game was split down the middle by the teams; Cap City scoring all six of their runs in the first inning on six hits, and Showtime scoring eight runs in the last four innings to come back and get the 8-6 victory. Garrett Myers and Hunter Spriggs each had doubles, Myers collecting three RBI's with his to lead the explosion in the first inning. Jordan Barchus and Jared Bell made their first appearances on the mound this winter; allowing three hits, and one earned run over four innings. Capital City led 6-1 going into the fifth inning, but the early season arms coming out of the bullpen couldn't hold off the Showtime bats; scoring four, one, and two the last three innings to take the lead. The Black Sox had the tying run on second base with two outs in the 7th, but weren't able to push him across.

Capital City had a successful weekend at Oregon State, getting to showcase their talent in front of 10 college coaches, and also tuning themselves up for the Cranberry Classic in Las Vegas at the end of the month!
