Capital City was determined to get off to a better start than last winter in Las Vegas; and they did exactly that, going 2-0 on the first day of pool play. Beating Southern Nevada Baseball 13-1 in the first game, getting a perfect performance from Jared Bell through three innings. Clayton Gelfand had four hits, Nick Choruby and Conner Kahle also helped out on offense with two hits apiece.

In the second game Capital City jumped out to a 13-5 lead going into the last inning when the Bandits from So Cal jumped right back in the game, the 6-run rally ended when Jordan Barchus got the Bandits to fly out and end the game at a 13-11 score. This time it was Austin Kelly and Gelfand who both led the Black Sox with three hits each.
