Posted May 10/10 - Perkins Mother's Day Tournament

Another tough tournament in the books.  We played short handed this weekend and we would like to thank Cooper, Cameron, and Beebee for playing with us on Saturday & Cooper and Cameron for coming back on Sunday.

Game #1 vs. Diamond Dawgs, we struggled in the field in the first and gave up 7 runs, but battled back to hold them to a goose egg the rest of the way.  Fought back to a 7-7 finish for a tie in our first pool play game.

Game #2 vs. Piedmont Storm, just couldn't get the bats going.  Pitcher threw well enough to earn the win but couldn't come up with the big hit with runners in scoring position.  Lost a close 2-1 decision.

Game #3 vs. Cushing Tigers, had a few hard hit balls but right at them.  Dayne threw an excellent game to keep us within striking distance.  Had several opportunities to push across some runs early but like game #2 couldnt find that hit when we needed it.  Down 4-1 heading into the bottom half of the last inning, the boys bats finally came alive.  Hade several nice hits, Aaron came through with a beautiful bunt, Bailey dumped a ball into right center that just cleared the outfielders glove and Cameron came through with a base knock to drive in the winning run, Cudas battle back and win 5-4 in their last abats.

Game #4 vs. Spiro Cardinals, faced a kid that was bringing some gas!!!  Not many strikeouts just couldn't square the ball up and hit it hard.  Game went back and forth until the last inning when the Cardinals pushed across 4 runs.  Cudas lose 7-3.

All in all not a bad weekend.  Got to play some good teams, see some lively pitching, and the boys are still showing flashes of the team they are capable of being.  Just have to work on being able to put those flashes into a total game.  Have to battle every inning on offense & defense and keep our heads up through out the whole game.  One hit can turn a game around as the boys realized in the Cushing game.  It got them fired up and then everyone started hitting and they came back to win a ballgame against a tough team.

Congrats to the older Barracudas on their tournament win, who avenged our loss to the Cardinals!!!
